Let's face it, we all get into a rut sometimes. We go to work, run our errands, go home and the majority of the people we socialize with are fellow employees. Most of us live alone and the only ones we talk to are our pets (if we have them). If you find yourself in this rut, this is the group for you.
We are a very active group of women and men, 45 or older, that want to spend time with other people in our age group and have fun. For the most part, we have at least one or more meetups a week.
This is not a dating site!!! However, if relationships form, that's terrific.
Let's meet for a drink and a bite to eat at local or not so local joints; meet in local parks for a walk with or without our dogs; plan a hike outside of San Antonio; explore the River Walk. I am open to any suggestions for meetups and love to have event organizers!
So, let's get moving and socializing! And keep in the best shape we can be in without being a major gymalholic while meeting others, sometimes getting exercise and other times just relaxing and getting to know each other better.
**Free, of course, is the operative word here, meaning you are single, widowed, divorced, or have a partner that just doesn't want to get out of that rut! Free does not mean that someone else is picking up the tab. You're on your own for that! Although, I'll try to get us some discounts.
A membership fee of $6.00 in cash is charged every six months to help cover my cost for this group payable to me every October and April. Please place it in an envelope and hand it to me when your dues are due.
A few rules that I have found necessary since begining this group:
- Be prepared to have a lot of fun with this group!
- Please post a current picture of yourself so that we can recognize you at your first few meetups of the "Fabulous Folks".
- Please answer the easy questions and tell the truth.
- If you car pool for any of the events, please pitch in for gas to your driver. Because I have the safety of all members of this group in mind, I do not and I advise others to not, car pool with someone that they have never met before.
- The women of this group are not desperately seeking men. Guys, if you are looking for any relationship other than friendship, join a dating site.
- Do not send unwelcome emails on this site to members of this group that you have not previously met in person and without consent of that person to do so. If anyone reports to me that you have done so, you will be eliminated. I've done it a few times already and am not afraid to do it again.
- Many Meetups require reservations due to a group limit, so a waitlist is created . If you have rsvp’d and do not attend and failed to change your rsvp for the second time in a row, you will be requested to leave the group. This is unfair to those on the waitlist. Let’s be considerate of the other members and either attend or update your rsvp.
- Rudeness to other group members and wait staff we encounter is not acceptable. Please let me know if there is a problem and I'll deal with it. I have and will continue to eliminate anyone that is rude!
- More rules made if needed. Please don't be the reason that I have to make them!
