State of the Social Network: Pinterest

  • April 19, 2012 · 6:30 PM

This is a combined event with the Pinterest meetup.

Please RSVP on the new Pinterest meetup

http://meetup.com/pinterestmeetup

We welcome Pinterest's own Kent Brewster as our keynote speaker!

Hacker, writer, speaker, dad. Not necessarily in that order. :)

Kent built the front end for Netflix's iPhone app from scratch, using nothing but HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Netflix's open APIs.

Favorite topics: securing Web 2.0 sites; JavaScript badges; front-end design and performance; creating and exploiting APIs; Yahoo! Pipes and YQL; OAuth; why having an API is a good idea in the first place.

This is a joint meetup with the Facebook Developers Meetup - which we've allowed an additional 50 RSVPs (all taken).

Learn about new startup tools available to make your pinning experience easy and how to measure it.

We'll focus on support to manage multiple boards and on tools that help measure effectiveness of your Pinboards for your brands for starters.

Demo moderator & MC: Robert Schwentker

Demos:

1. Pintics: Founders Francisco Guerrero and Liang

Pintics helps you understand the traffic sources for your pinboards.

Pintics - Tools and Analytics for your Pinterest account

2. Rummage - http://rumma.ge

Rummage is a fast, fun, visual way to browse eBay.

At its core is a search tool that modernizes the eBay shopping experience by emphasizing quick access to large photos, an intuitive UI, and serendipitous discovery. It is designed to conjure up the excitement felt at a rummage sale: that moment when you find something wonderful that you’ve wanted forever.

Rummage Bios:

Eugene was the founding engineer at FooMojo, a social gaming company backed by Baseline Ventures and SoftBank Capital. He spent the past year consulting and traveling throughout Europe and Asia. Matt spent several years consulting at eBay, eBay Partner Network, and Yahoo! with Accenture. He was most recently involved with organic marketing at bloomspot, a San Francisco-based daily deals startup.

3. Jennifer Barr is a social media marketing specialist who advises high tech companies on how to use social media to help market and grow their business and online communities. Recently she was a product marketing manager for Google+, helping launch Google+ pages and Hangouts on Air. She was also one of the first 30 promoted Twitter beta users in the world (paid marketing on Twitter).  She will give a brief talk on how Pinterest fits into the social media landscape.  --> gplus.to/rjenbarr
