This is a temporary holding page for Livelihoods2020, an initiative deeply inspired by the Transition Towns movement. It is especially concerned with sustainable economics, community currencies, greener business and nurturing new and supporting existing 'Transition Enterprises'. It is especially motivated by the questions: 'How will we make a living in a happier, healthier and low carbon community, beyond cheap oil?' and 'how can we enjoy ourselves while nurturing solutions for a healthy local economy beyond fossil fuels, and sustainable work and business'

Livelihoods2020 is a new initiative, but using the same name and similar vision as a now closed group, that was previously active within Transition Brighton and Hove. Tragically, that organisation is now defunct. This new vehicle seeks to continue that work independently, in harmony with other great projects around and beyond the Transition Network.

We are now seeking like minded people, with a strong understanding of the Transition Towns movement, nurturing new enterprise, community currency and exchange initiatives, driving business sustainability, obtaining funding, and are driven by the question of how they and others will find livelihoods in the low carbon economy. Some understanding of permaculture and the permaculture of business, organisations and communities an advantage, as is an understanding of the personal resilience we need to build to help us build economic resilience.
Must be able to demonstrate an ability to work in harmony, in a way that supports and empowers others, and have fun in the face of the scary stuff. Let's face the music and dance.


Although located and focussed on Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, we are connected with likeminded initiatives around London and the South East, and are not currently limited by location.
