How the Critiques Work

The overall process is very simple and will usually take only an hour or two of your time, depending on the type of review you choose. You will need to pick a limited number of images for review, based on the type of critique you need. Listed below are the three levels of critiques we currently offer.

You can see a sample critique here, the password to access the gallery is sample

The Affordable and Quick 10 Image Review requires that you submit no more than 10 images. You probably already have a select group of favorites that you may want have critiqued. You may also be considering submitting images for a gallery show or contest and this is a great way to get feedback on your work.

The mid-level review allows you to submit up to 30 images of which 10 will be critiqued and overall 15 will be ranked in order, 1 to 15. The review includes not only written comments but also a video with the reviewers more extensive critique of each of the top 10 images. This critique is ideal for preparing an actual portfolio, preparing for a group show or perhaps sending to publishers and stock agencies.

The most extensive and through review (including audio and video comments) allows you to submit up to 50 images. Out of the number of images submitted the reviewer will pick the best 20 for critique and will rank the best 40 images in order. This type of critique is great for the intermediate, advanced and professional photographer wanting a high level of feedback on a body of work. This review also permits one follow up email if you need more clarification or guidance on a few images.

The critique will be finished within 7 days or less, of receipt of your images. The reviews, comments and A/V portion will remain online for 6 month following the completion of the critique. Images submitted on CD/DVD will not be returned unless prior arrangements are made for their pickup.

Here are a few simple guidelines for submitting your images.

Once we receive your payment, you'll receive an email in a few hours with name of your gallery, password for the gallery and instruction for emailing images to FCCP. You can also review the instructions here. You may also mail your images on a CD/DVD or thumb drive (flash drive).

The best way to submit images is via email, directly to your personal review gallery. The gallery is password protected and only you and the reviewer can access the gallery. You may share the password and link to your gallery with friends and family if you desire. Prints, calendars, gifts etc. can also be ordered if you desire. Details on the various prints and gifts can be found here.

The images should be no smaller than 1600 pixels on the longest side. If you want to be able to sell prints, gifts etc., you should upload, or mail) full size images. The gallery accepts any size single image, up to 25 MB. The image should be a jpeg/jpg and in the sRGB color space. If you need help with sizes, resizing, color spaces etc. please contact FCCP at FCCP_Director@me.com

Lastly, before you email or mail the images you will need to select the reviewer you wish to work with. The reviewers are members of FCCP that are working or retired professional photographers, retired photography instructors and select members of the FCCP staff. You can learn more about the reviewers here.
