It's about time! So many of you have requested an event to watch this. I even got in touch with the Miss Representation organizers and took all their batch emails to see if I could get a lead on a showtime here. In the end, the credit goes to Sara M., though, for the heads up on this one. Good job, Sara! :D
The Royal Cinema in Toronto will be screening Miss Representation on International Women's Day, March 6, 2013.
"One of America’s most powerful exports is our media. Too often, a harmful image of women and girls is exported along with it. At MissRepresentation.org, we are working with these brave partners to think globally and act locally to improve the story we tell the world about women."
"Premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Miss Representation is written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom and exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself."
