Freedom from Religion Foundation, Valley of the Sun

presents

Seráh Blain, Director & Lobbyist, Secular Coalition for Arizona

"ArizonaLegislature: 2013 Legislative Wrap-up"

(Please note our new meeting venue and time!)

AGENDA:

  • Welcome!
  • President’s Report & Calendar
  • Speaker - Seráh Blain – Director & Lobbyist, Secular Coalition for Arizona - "ArizonaLegislature: 2013 Legislative Wrap-up"
  • General Announcements & Discussion
  • Adjourn 3:00PM

Seráh Blain will report on this year’s AZ Legislative Session & all of the delightful scuttlebutt regarding Arizona State Rep. Juan Mendez’s (D) secular invocation (composed by none other than Ms. Blain herself), and the ensuing controversy covered by USA Today,  Huffington Post, MSNBC, etc. (links shown below).   FFRF is honoring our Rep. Mendez with their “Emperor Has No Clothes Award” at the FFRF National Convention this September in Madison!!  How great is that?!?!

Linda Brown, Development Director for the Secular Coalition for Arizona, will also be at the meeting so you will all get a chance to meet her too!

Do you live outside of PhoenixMetro?

Never fear!  The Secular Coalition for Arizona’s “Arizona Legislature - 2013 Wrap-Up” meetings will be scheduled throughout the state over the next month.  See http://www.secularaz.org/ for the meeting locations, dates, & times.  Until you get to hear Seráh Blain tell you all the wacky stories about the craziness at our Capitol, you can read the Secular Coalition for Arizona’s ‘2013 Legislature Scorecard’ report here - http://secularaz.org/files/PDF/2013_Legislature_Scorecard_final.pdf

The FFRF Valley of the Sun Chapter Meetings are free and open to the public

About our new meeting-place:

Macayo’s is a great venue!  They provide wonderful meeting facilities for a nominal $25.00 per event.  The food is fantastic!  The meeting is free & open to the public.  No purchase is necessary, however we hope you will support the restaurant and order an awesome lunch! And maybe Margaritas too! ¡Olé! (For the gringos - the menu has American food options. They even offer a ‘Gluten-Free’ menu!)  An automatic gratuity will be added to your check.  I’m delighted we found such a wonderful venue for our new home!

See you Sunday!

I wasn't able to attend this meeting with Serah, she is doing a great job, but it sure isn't good news from Glendale today. what we can do at this point? are there any members of FFRF in Glendale? A school board case from my hometown back east (Greece) is going to the Supreme Court soon. when will they stop this nonsense?
