Greetings FILMAtlanta. .  .and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

As a community partner to FILMAtlanta, the Atlanta University Center Consortium and The Outdoor Foundation (Washington, D.C.), the NEXT Steps Youth Entrepreneur Program would like to invite you and your high schoolers (8th-12th grade) to participate in the Outdoor Nation Atlanta Campus Club -- a wonderful activity that introduces inner city youth to local outdoor activities.

Celebrating the 2nd year of the Outdoor Nation Atlanta Campus Club, we have hired a select group of college mentors from Emory, Georgia State, Georgia Tech and the Atlanta University Center to take kids on exciting trips throughout the city to help build their leadership, teamwork and critical thinking skills.  The trips also double as a way for the mentors to encourage kids to stay in school and pursue paths of: higher education, skill training in S.T.E.M., social and environmental careers. The trips are all paid for by The Outdoor Foundation with slots for up to 25 kids per activity.  Homeschoolers welcomed!!!

As we finalize our schedule for 2013, activities will include one of the following: kayaking, backpacking, horseback riding, caving, whitewater rafting, fishing or rock climbing (pending availability).  Please visit our website to learn more about the dates, times and activities we have planned for your students.  Our first activity is scheduled for Saturday, January 26 from 10am-2pm.  Online registration required.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call, text or email me.

Wonderful opportunity for the young women in your life, in case you're interested.  (Thanks William Gordner)

A Day in Your Life(ADITL)

You’ve heard about the campus, our faculty and the sisterhood. Now, we invite all high school juniors, seniors, and their parents to come and experience firsthand the excitement our students live every day.
During ADIYL, you will have an opportunity to meet the young women of Spelman, and witness the rich diversity of backgrounds and interests represented in our student body. You will also be able to speak with our faculty and staff about your plans for college and beyond; and learn how the entire campus community will work together with you to help you realize your dream. Your parents will have an opportunity to talk with representatives about housing, student life, and the financial aid process.

ADIYL takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is designed to answer many questions you might have about Spelman College, and maybe a few you have not yet considered! We look forward to having you on campus for this very special event.

Please note that lunch will be served, free of charge for all registered students. Parents and other guests are welcome to enjoy lunch as well for $6 per person.

Upcoming dates for ADIYL:

Nov. 12, 2012
Jan. 28, 2013
