Baton Rouge, LA (PRWEB) December, 2012

The second annual Third Street Film Festival, which showcases top independent films made in Louisiana kicks off with a reception at 5 p.m. on Dec. 28 at the Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts and concludes on Dec. 29.

Third Street Film Festival celebrates and raises awareness of locally produced films while recognizing Louisiana as one of the country’s top locations for film production. In addition to screenings, the event offers access to local filmmakers and discussion panels regarding the state’s industry.

Founded in 2011 by James Hebert, Third Street Film Festival is a rising star on the independent film festival circuit.

The 2012 Festival has expanded since last year’s inaugural event, as it is now showcasing feature films and has four times as many showcases. The festival will host two film showcases on the evening of Friday, Dec. 28th, and two on Saturday, Dec. 29th. The showcases kick off on Friday at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Saturday’s showcases start at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Each exhibition will include approximately 45 minutes of short films and one feature film. Individual showcase passes are available for $20, day passes for $35, and full festival experience passes for $60. Tickets are available through the Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Art’s box office and website.

“Our mission is uniting and elevating Louisiana’s talented film community through the recognition, development and advancement of their work,” Hebert says. “We want to educate the community on independent films and the work that goes into them, while inspiring and igniting a culture that resonates the spirit of the stories they tell.”
