Action Alert
Time is of the essence. The House is debating the budget bill today at 2pm. Please act, and act fast! Contact the Govenor and your legislator by clicking here
Fiscal sessions are never boring, that's for sure. Yesterday, the governor, once our enemy, came out in favor of the film and entertainment industry promising to veto any reductions to the motion picture tax credit program which may be proposed by the Legislature!
In turn, he is asking for LFEA's help to convey to the House of Representatives that putting budget plans together behind closed doors (that's what seems to be happening) is the wrong approach. That's a position long championed by LFEA. Any amendment to the tax credit programs must be the product of the constitutionally-protected legislative process and must be the product of full debate and deliberation with accurate information and understanding of the consequences.
Please reach out to the Governor and the House of Representatives by clicking here to let them know that the film and entertainment industry strongly opposes uniform cuts to the incentive programs without the full and transparent utilization of the legislative process, and that any amendment to the program not properly debated and passed must be killed.
