Starting a Scene Study class in Baton Rouge next week. Hope you can join us. I recently studied with Larry Moss in NYC who is Leonardo DiCaprio's acting coach for every role he works on. I'll be incorporating insights gained with him into the work on scenes. It's powerful, inspiring stuff. See info for class below.
All the best,
Ongoing Scene Study Class with Casey Groves
We will use the Michael Chekhov Technique as a basis for our work.
“Inside of every actor is a deeply rooted, and often unconscious, desire for transformation.”
The Michael Chekhov Technique engages the body and the imagination. It gets you out of your head and brings you right to where interaction between people is happening- in the body, in the eyes, in the gesture, in the images that we send across space to each other. These tools put you in charge of your own creativity and lead to spontaneously correct choices for auditions and roles. This will be an ongoing class focusing on scenes from theater and film. Actors will be matched with scene partners from the class and will approximate costumes and props for scene presentations.

“I have been working with Casey for almost a year now, and his guidance has been invaluable! He really gets you to look inside yourself, and he has helped me develop more subtle nuances with characterization. As a result, I have started getting callbacks and have booked roles on Memphis Beat and several films.”
