The Failure Method: Why Taking Risks is Important to Being Successful

First off, we are honored that NYCi Meetup #2 will be hosted at Meetup.com Headquarters! After listening to feedback from the last Meetup we’ve adjusted the format and are trying some new things. This Meetup will consist of an awesome panel, fun networking, and of course, internship announcements.

// The Panel
We are so honored to have such a talented panel of creative professionals with extremely diverse backgrounds!

  • Amber Rae // Chief Evangelist // The Domino Project (Seth Godin + Amazon)
  • Dave Brown // Social Media Specialist // Etsy
  • Jason Boog // Publishing Editor // Mediabistro
  • Wendy Wecksell // Manager of Corporate Development // Tribeca Enterprises

// Networking
There will be time to mingle before and after the panel. Bring business cards, iPads with portfolios, bump your resume, whatever you’d like to do to showcase your awesomeness. Already have a spring internship? Think ahead to summer!

// Internship Announcements
Anyone who attends our event and has an internship to offer they’d like to share can fill out this form. NYCi team members will them announce them during the event and introduce the submitter to the group. If you’re unable to attend but have an opportunity, please post it on our job board!

    gave me a lot of great insight on failing, and that it doesn't matter. It's what you take from it that counts the most, and to think outside the box.

    It was so awesome. I met other students and people just like me looking for help and inspiration to get started doing what I love. The panel showed why risk taking is such an important concept in doing what you love.
    And I gave Dave Brown two hugs.

    The panel discussion was incredibly informative. It was inspirational to see four people who have pursued their passions while sticking to their creative philosophies. I also enjoyed talking to people I didn't know and learning about what they're interested in doing and what inspires them to do what they do.

    The panel was very cool. I enjoyed everyone's advice and learned a whole lot about taking risks and staying motivated to go after what I'm passionate about. I loved each panelist's honesty; their experiences are inspiring me to get over the fear of failing and now, I'm actually looking forward to it because it might just make a cool story some day.
