Wow! A fabulous group brought their desire and enthusiasm to sail, and made it happen. I can't remember a class where more people sailed solo, and most sailing the full 3 point course! You guys were awesome. You made it a pleasure to teach and sail with you. Now i am going to recuperate. thanks to all the Instructors who participated, Chef Christine and our cabin managers for a great 3 days.

According to the ferry schedule, it looks like 9:50 am and 11:50 am are the only selections from Bay Shore to Atlantique on Sunday. I don’t see the schedule of when we can leave Atlantique during the week on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. I only see Dunewook but not Atlantique. I don’t know what that means.

    June 10, 2013

    • John M.

Paul, Atlantique is a rather small community with limited ferry service. The western communities are rather near each other, so you might need to go in or out at a different community depending on your own schedule. To plan your departure there are ferry schedules at the cabin for the ferry service at: Atlantique, Dunewod, Fair Harbor, and Ocean Beach. You can find all of the schedules online as well: http://www.fireisland... Dunewood is the closest ferry stop to Atlantique, and is usually on the same printed schedule as Atlantique. The two spots with the most frequent ferry service are Ocean Beach and Fair Harbor.

      June 10, 2013

    • Paul O.

I did look at their ferry schedule but they don't say how far the distance from Ocean Beach to Atlantique but it seems like less than 2 miles so it will not take too long to walk from the Cabin to Ocean Beach terminal. I also wanted to know how long the ferry ride was between Bay Shore and Ocean Beach and they told me about 30 minutes. It looks like I have to take 8:10 pm from Ocean Beach on Tuesday night since first ferry leaves at 7:40 am on Wednesday which probably is too late for me to get back to Westchester by 9 am.

    Steven
I will be arriving late Sunday as well. The class starts Monday morning. As long as you are there for the Monday classroom session it is no problem. Michael

    June 10, 2013

    • John M.

Steven, there are many other ferries to choose from -- the most options will be at Ocean Beach, with a close second being Fair Harbor. Atlantique is a smaller community so there are fewer options and even during the peak season there are limited afternoon ferries into the marina there on a Sunday.

      June 10, 2013

    • Paul O.

Thanks John. I see that there is 8:10 pm ferry from Ocean Beach to Bayshore and 6:10 am ferry from Ocean Beach to Bayshore but how long does it take from the cabin to the Ocean Beach ferry terminal and how long does the ferry itself take from Ocean Beach to Bayshore? I need to attend graduation ceremony on Wednesday since I am the President of the PTA. I was thining of leaving on the last ferry on Tuesday night or first ferry on Wednesday to get back to Westchester by 9 am on Wednesday. I figure I can leave my car at Bayshore and drive from Bayshore to Westchester in time for the graduation ceremony.
