LEARN TO SAIL WEEKEND AT FIRE ISLAND CABIN

Note: Several instructors plan to arrive on Fri in the early afternoon, and will already start sloop sailing (tentatively 3:30 pm). Join us then, and have a head start on the sailing program!

After the happy hour (which starts at 6:30), we will have a knot tying session. Always fun: learn a new knot or show off your favorite knot.

So, try to come early and have more sailing bang for your weekend buck!

Fun and adventure while learning to sail!

Join us for an action packed weekend of adventure and camaraderie while learning to sail our fleet of boats. No experience necessary! Weekend includes classroom sessions, boats, equipment, and on-water instruction.

We arrive Friday afternoon or evening on the ferry from Bayshore. Check-in with the manager, get settled, and enjoy the beach. Happy hour is served in the evening, then you are free to walk the beach, visit the hopping town of Ocean Beach for drinks, dinner, music or ice cream. Breakfast at 8 am Saturday and class starts at 9 am sharp.

Read and bring book, “Start Sailing Right”, (US Sailing Association).

$175 includes 2 nights lodging and meals from Friday happy hour through Sunday lunch.

To register contact:  [masked]. Then RSVP here on the site. You are not confirmed unless you are reserved and paid with NY contact above.

Looking at the list of participants, I see: Berlina Cole
Rohini Mehta. So you are all set. Take the Ferry to Atlantique, and start walking East from the dock along the water. Ask anybody walking there to show you were the cabin is. They are likely going there themselves. Look at the fire island ferry website to see the boat schedule: from the Ferry terminal to Atlantique: 11:50; 3:00; 4:15; 6:45; 8:15. Send direct email to me if more questions. Hugo

I will be on the Bay Shore (terminal: 11:50; Marina: noon) to Atlantique Ferry. If you have never been to the Cabin before, find me on the upper deck, and I'll guide you.

My friend and I did not receive anything in the mail after my check was cashed. We've paid for the weekend starting tomorrow but do not have any specifics. Does anyone have Anita's phone number?

I received an email from Anita regarding a reservation package that's coming to me in the mail. Is that the same thing?

Do you know what the schedule for Sunday is? Is there time for sailing? Or is it more of a wake up then check out day?

      August 19, 2013

    • Hugo S.

Sunday is a full sailing day: breakfast; chores; lecture; practice; lunch; practice; put boats away. I recommend you take advantage of this as long as you can, and return with the 5:30 or 7:10 boat.

I am getting excited about the LTS Weekend coming up 8/23. Besides the obvious like bathing suit, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, towel. Are there any other things I should be bringing?

    August 7, 2013

    • Hugo S.

Hi Alfred. There is always a change of less-than-perfect weather. Look at the forecast before you come. It is usually wise to bring dry clothes, warm clothes and rain (or splash!) gear, in particular if it is windy. Unless you plan to rent it, you have to bring bedsheets (towel included in the rental). Pen and paper for class notes can be useful.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
