I believe in exposing to as many people as possible the beauty of this colorful art form. I have been approached by people while flagging in public, and I wanted to offer to everyone a structured way to share my love of this art/dance/meditation.

Do you have any experience flagging, or dance experience? (Don't worry, I don't have dance experience!)

I have been flagging for a few years. From the first time I saw it, I was enthralled and hypnotized. To me, it captures the ephemeral beauty in life, and celebrates it in moving form. I love that it is rhythmic, and you move freely to music.

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS FLAGGING OR FLAG DANCING???

It’s a high-energy dance form where colorful flags are spun in patterns with the body as extensions of the music.

Experienced flaggers can create almost dream-like effects by artistically mixing technical skill, liquid-like movements, and amazing athletic intensity. Throw in the strobes and black lights of a nightclub, set the whole thing to a good dance beat, and the results can be fantastically surreal.

Flag dancing draws its inspiration from Japanese fan dancing and Polynesian poi dancing (think Hawaiian fire twirlers), and this dazzling style of dance has begun to gain widespread popularity; from Boston to Brazil , from Texas to Thailand.

Whatever the origins, flagging is a great way to MEDITATE - a moving meditation. The rhythmic movements calm and relax you. It's also a great workout, especially for the arms and the core of the body. Join us and give it a try - it's fun!
