Flash Camp London '09 is a FREE, community-run event for everyone interested in the Adobe Flash Platform! Whether you're just getting started with Flash or you're an expert, Flash Camp aims to provide something for you.

We've lined up some of the most experienced Flash creatives in the world who will share their knowledge on everything Flash related including, migrating from ActionScript 2 to ActionScript 3, 3D, Inverse Kinematices and video to list a few.

We've also got some great prizes to give-away throughout the day (more on that as we get closer to the event), as well as free pizza and beer ( to those old enough) after the event ends. Don't feel you have to rush off as we will likely move to a local drinking hole to continue the discussions over a few pints.

Loving the "designer or coder?" signup question. I felt a little defiant answering 'both'. Those were the days, when creatives were encouraged to be coders. Looking forward to sharing the old-skool love though! More than enough to go around.

Looking forward to hearing from Seb Le Delisle and Lee Brimlow. Am making the crossover to AS3 this month in time for a course with Seb Lee Delisle on papervision in Brighton!

Had a great time & met some great people. Surprisingly good pizza. And the Central St Martin's art show going on in the crypt was the icing on the cake :)

I really enjoyed it and all in all it was a good day especially socially but it's a shame the organisers didn't pay more attention to the 'technical set-up' - the projector could have been more legible and one speaker in particular I couldn't hear at all!

Lee was brilliant though! I'd definitely attend the next one..

In general, the event was pretty much what I expected. The organisation was great, but somehow I feel that the level of the presentations was too low. Moreover, the presentations of Richard Dean and Michael Chase were pretty weak. Seb was great, and also the guys from Adobe. Maybe it's just myself that I had too high expectations :)

The meetup was good, the demonstrations & presentations were great! I manage to get up to date on the technology after being out of touch for 5years. I think the applications are really cool, there are loads of potential for use. Not sure if there was any discussion of accessibility for Flash after the presentation on AIR... had to head off after the presentation on AIR. If it wasn't a topic raised, it would be interesting to learn more about it despite there is a section on Adobe website (http://www....) on this topic. I think it'll be a good topic to learn and discuss in future meetups?

A great day with some excellent speakers. Thanks a lot.
  • Anna Fyda
The Camp was very well organised, it delivered everything that was promised to the audience. I was very pleased and will be able to make use of the knowledge I gained.
  • Sam Hassan
Very well organised with some very good speakers, and a couple of presentations that were quite slow and not very concise with some sound problems. Overall an enjoyable event.
  • Sachin
It was amazing meeting so many flash professionals under one roof. Presentations, Venue and all other arrangements were perfect. Its been really long such an event took place in London and I really look forward to more events like this in future.
  • Janak
It was excellent, love the pizza rush! Learnt tons

I learned a lot and found all presentations very interesting! I was sitting in the front row, glued to the projection screen, and found it still very hard (blurry) to read anything that was presented. Was it my eyesight or the proyection? After the book raffle at 8 pm I put 2 chairs on the carrier, brought 2 chairs down with me as we were asked, and then stayed downstairs to eat pizza. A bit later someone told me that the big raffles for the main prices had been done with a few people left upstairs. After hearing this I left to go home disappointed. If it is true then I find it unfair to all the people downstairs.
  • Dan Sumption
Some good presentations & networking. Room lighting a bit strange (made me feel ill after a while) and screen *way* to small to view code on for anyone not in the front couple of rows, and sound very echoey.
  • Jon Howard
Many of the presentations were regurgitated from previous pers at Flash at the Beach 08 and even 07 (Mike Chambers...). It was a great networking opportunity - but learnt very little
  • Lee Jay Keeper
A great way to introduce and get up to speed with developments in rich internet application development. As a print based designer kinda new to the field there were some bits that were complex now but it gave great currency to make a leap into internet apps and web-based design.

Very inspiring with many eyeopeners, especially the workflow between Flash and Flex delivered excitement. I am looking forward to see more of Flash Catalyst in action. Great networking, outstanding pizza and too much beer... <!-D The projector could have been much more powerful, because of the given light condition in the hall. By sitting even in the third row, I had great difficulties to read. Also the sound quality could have a bit more punch, because the natural accoustic of the hall give a very nice echo.
  • Martin Lynch
I liked - the relaxed atmosphere of the event - I liked the offer of support to unemployed developers - kind - free event so great value - good contacts and ideas - we will be submitting a proposal to the open screen fund as a result of the event - the quality of the speakers though some better than others I didn't like - hard to hear, hard to see presentations unless you were at the front - the most UNCOMFORTABLE seats in the world - ever - tutorial sessions were a bit basic - I know they were aimed at designers but parallel sessions wouls have been better (still it was free what do you expect) - time of session - we came from cardiff and had to leave early
  • Wijnand Warren
A bit too much on the designer side.
  • David Wright
It had its good points and its bad points. Good points first: The venue was great, the speakers Seb Lee-Delisle, Mark Chambers and of course Lee Brimelow were excellent. Meeting friends and socialising. The food and refreshments provided was excellent. The bad points, the projector was not bright enough, the use of the lapel mics inconsistent and some speakers could not be heard. Some speakers were awful. It is the first event of this type in London and so you will learn from your mistakes. On the whole I enjoyed the event and look forward to the next one.
  • Derek O'Brien
Great venue, excellent organisation considering what went on, good selection of speakers. Excellent networking opportunity. Free beer and pizza what more can i say.
  • Luca Fumis
Awesome! Very well organized and timed, very interesting talks, some excellent speakers. A bigger screen would have been nice And the pizza was gooood! ....btw, where was it from?
  • Andreas
some speakers were really great, some lack a bit in stage performance. But overall I really liked the content of it. I am designer so I would love to have a lot more visual examples to everything. That would be awsome!
  • George Profenza
Great pizza and beer like Flex Camp! ^_^ ... less of raffle though ? ...I remember Chip mentioning something about a prize from Academy Class. Not enough raffle tickets. The presentations were great though. Compared to other Adobe Events, this one wasn't as shiny, but given the amount of time to get everyone together ( including sponsors, etc. ) I think it was a pretty good one they pulled off. Thanks for the shirt ! :)
  • Matt Clark
What a great day! The pizza was fantastic and so was the beer! Ah yes, those Adobe people were pretty awesome too ;-) Thank you to all the organisers and presenters, you did a great job.
  • Barbara Nowacka
I was expecting more, air max was much better; Seb was great, but most other presentations didn't show much of new stuff.. most things I have seen long time ago...
  • Antony Cartwright
The organisation was fine, but I wasn't able to make it at the last minute.
  • Lloyd
Learned a lot about new capabilities and got a lot of new ideas for new ways to tackle some project.
  • Barry Richards
The event was really good, interesting knowledgeable speakers. Not living in London the time wasn't convenient, had to leave before the end to catch a train. An earlier start/finish would be better, this would leave time to do some socialising too.
  • Tom Foreman
Flash camp was fantastic, if your looking to network and meet other developers talk about different solutions and look ahead at how adobe flash and flex orientated products can benifit your future as a creative or developer then this is the event for you.
  • joy pamo
An absolutely fab day - especially since I was one of the lucky ones who won Flash CS4 in the raffle.
  • Damian Street
I thought it was informative about what the products did and it was worthwhile finding where it was all heading. Especially enjoyed Lee Brimelow and Seb Lee Delisle talks. Will there be a central resource for the topics covered by the lectures, web links.
  • liz hill
    Very useful day
  • Simon Braun
This was my first Flash Camp Meetup and i have t say i was blown away by it. The speakers that were there where excellent and very inspiring. It was a shame that the internet connection kept going as would like to have seen some of the mobile stuff
  • Ben Brunton
was a bit too long considering that 2 or 3 of the presentations were fairly poor - notably the presentation about pixel bender, inverse kinematics and air. the fact that there wasn't a wifi connection probably didnt help this. the guys from adobe were great though.
  • Gurpreet Singh
The speakers were great but organization wasn't up to the standards. Basic things like internet and mic were not even working. Hope this would not happen next time. I'm happy with everything else.
  • thomas hebdon
Good insight into flash possibilities, although felt like it was bit of CS4 advert.
  • Haden Cruickshank
No wifi, poor PA system, bad lighting and couldn't see the screen Some of the talks from Adobe were nearly exactly same as previous conferences, eg. Actionscript 3 by Mike Chambers
  • Thijs Triemstra
Sound was terrible, projector was bad, couldn't see anything on it, and most importantly the presentations weren't interesting at all. It was a bad PR day for Adobe basically.
  • Pete Hotchkiss
Some great presentations and 1 or 2 really poor ones. Really don't like presentations where folks just demo their own portfolio its LAME and lazy presenting. Was cool to have such strong turn out from Adobe peeps
  • Jose Espejo
Awful, awful venue. Appalling acoustics. Unconfortable seating. Could'nt see many of the slides on the screen. Couldn't hear many of the speakers. Few real insights in the presentations, many of them were presentaions I had seen before, or subjects I, and probably most people there, already knew about.
  • John Wilson
I enjoyed the presentations, but didn't get full schedule until day before the event, after I booked my train tickets. I understood from website that pizza/beer would be available at some point during day. Also the website said event would end 20:00 and "Don't feel you have to rush off as we will likely move to a local drinking hole to continue the discussions over a few pints." Being unemployed I did not want to move to a pub, so booked train back for 9:00 (booking specific train = cheaper ticket, without much disposable income even 3 quid saved helps!) Unfortunately, in order to get train I had to miss the networking, pizza and beer, which started after the prize giving and was now scheduled to end 10:00, also being hungry by then I had to buy food en-route (there goes my 3-quid). Aside from this glitch, I had a good time, I particularly enjoyed Lee's presentation, he is a knowledgable and entertaining speaker. Thanks to all involved, I look forward to the next Flash Camp.
  • Mark Starling
Very good sessions, a little too orientated around designers for me but there was some good sessions from Surge and Seb to keep us Developers entertained! It really is awesome that there's that many active people/companies in the Flash Platform community to put on events like this - they help to keep the community inspired! Good work!
  • Steve Groves
Good networking event Variable speakers - some excellent, some so-so Breaks too long - 30 mins would have been better Would definitely attend again
  • Filipe Lima
sound and tech conditions were not properly set up. Some speakers did not definitely have any experience in presenting to a larger audience and were speaking for themselves. No internet connection, required by some of the presentations. Really great initiative, but needs more work in gathering up the comunity.
  • Andrea Ottolina
Good networking. Food and drinks always welcome. Some speakers were a little boring. The raffle hasn't been managed well (some people left without tickets - it could be easier just to use attendee names).
  • inajardesign
It was great - very well organised, good flow of speakers, who each had a particular style that came through and appealed to different people, cool demos, very generous prizes and some amazing goody bags. I loved it all! Well done on all your hard work - I cannot wait for another one. Janak Rajani http://www.... London
  • Steven
There were some interesting talks and demos but nearly all were marred by poor internet connectivity and audibility, and the keynote speech felt a little too much like a corporate sales pitch. I thought the give-aways were pretty generous considering the event was free.
  • Luke sturgeon
