Testing Flask

Everyone says you should test your Flask applications, but not everyone knows how to do it. Here's your chance to find out.

Stack Exchange is kind enough to host "Testing Flask," an event dedicated to learning how to test your Flask applications.

Matt Wright (@mattupstate) is going to talk about using pytest (http://pytest.org) to test your Flask application. Alex Sapountzis (@asapountzis) is going to talk about using Selenium (http://docs.seleniumhq.org) and Jasmine (http://jasmine.github.io) to test the frontend of your application.

To all: Feel free to post any questions you might have regarding pytest and/or Flask before the talk and I'll see if I can address them in my presentation.

Info on any best practices for testing a flask-based RESTful API would be great.

I'd like to know good practices for testing views (making mock requests/vetting responses), and also for doing mock-type stuff that involves multiple related models.

I'd like to hear about strategies you've used or seen to consolidate unit testing for a heterogeneous code base. Specifically in the context of Flask, I'm thinking about how to neatly merge JS unit testing with Python unit testing, especially from an execution and reporting perspective.

One thing I've done is use a tool like grunt to execute nose and jasmine tests

Same goes for Jasmine or Selenium. If there's something you want me to look into for the presentation ask here.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
