Hi Guys, Here's the updated details for Sunday's Meetup:
We'll start by meeting at The Reading Terminal Market,
51 North 12th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107-2954
across the street from RTM is a small concrete park, we'll meet you there. In the event that its raining, we'll meet inside RTM by the 12th/Arch St entrance.
Here's a loose guide for the Routes. We will either break up into two groups depending on preference meeting back up at 4pm at McGillin's Ale House, or select one as a group. As requested, I've broken this into a rough time frame. As with all meetups, we'll take it as it goes. We don't have to cover this much territory. It's all up to you :)
Route 1:
12pm - 1pm China Town to Old City
1pm - 2pm Old City over to Washing Square
2pm - 3pm Washington Square to Headhouse Square
3pm - 4pm South Street to Broad, Kimmel Center to Love Park
4pm - Head over to McGillin's
Route 2
12 - 1 Chinatown to Love Park
1 - 2 Love Park to Art Museum
2 - 3 Art Museum to Rittenhouse
3 - 4 Rittenhouse to Kimmel Center
4pm over to McGillin's
McGillin's Olde Ale House
1310 Drury Street, Philadelphia, PA

Posted by Holly February 17, 2012I am really going to try and make it. I will be coming in from NYC by bus. I don't know my way around Philly or how easy it is to get from the bus stop to the meeting place. I will probably take Bolt which has a stop a JFK & North 30th. Any suggestions?

Posted by Isaac D. Pacheco February 14, 2012Just a suggestion, but a place-by-place schudule would help with the "lost photographer" effect that is inevitable in these types of large gatherings. For example, saying that we're going to be at Reading Terminal from 12-1, Independance Hall from 1-2, The Historic District from 2-3, South Street from 3-4, etc would help keep things organized, and allow people to split off and meet back up if they wanted to. Just expecting everyone to agree on where to go when we get there is going to be chaos.

Will there be anybody with signs or anything like that so that we know that we are in the correct spot at Reading Terminal? Should we just enter through the 12th st entrance or is there an easy way for those of us using public transit to find where you plan on meeting?

Posted by Rob February 9, 2012Just warning to everyone. If you attempt to setup a tripod the Rangers will consider you a professional and issue a fine. I just recently found out. I was lucky and got off with a warning. (You should be aware of the location of Park Rangers) All historical site are under this Federal regulation. If you feel you need the tripod I would get a permit. My suggestion is just bring favor camera and lenses and enjoy. Can't wait to meet everyone. I'll buy a drink for the first person I meet.

Meeting at RTM would be good, but photos in the market itself would be hard with a crowd on a weekend day. You get the most variation by heading south and east through the historic district/streets and then into South Philly/9th Street Market area. I'm up for anything though.

As it gets closer, we will know more , especially weather wise. If it's nice there are so many parks. If it's cold, Reading Terminal would be great.
that's what i was thinking. Reading Terminal, although crowded, is a good jumping off point as its right off of suburban station and within easy walking distance to China Town, Love Park, City Hall, Rittenhouse Square in one direction and Old City in the other.

South Philly, starting at the Italian Market, is a good mix of streetscapes, people and architecture.
