Organic gardening consultant, Tia Meer, will show you many methods of starting a garden. This class will teach you how to pick a location for the garden, kill the grass, and determine the best type of compost to amend the soil, and choose the right crops to successfully grow fresh vegetables in your backyard. This class is intended to prepare a new gardener with everything they need to start a garden.
Tia Meer grew up on a 13-acre organic farm in Pittsburgh, PA and has had a lifelong passion for growi ng food organically and lessening our impact on Mother Earth. Tia has studied Permaculture in Costa Rica, Bio-dynamic gardening on the Big Island of Hawaii, and GROW BIOINTENSIVE gardening with John Jeavons in Willits, CA. Tia practices Permaculture on her 5-acre farm, is President of Simple Living Institute and owns an organic gardening consulting business called Home Grown Delights, is a certified arborist and permaculturalist.
