Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Himalayan, Nepali, or any of the other numerous countries and their cuisines in Southeast Asia, are rich with spices and delightful flavors and textures. You are encouraged to bring a vegan dish for all to experience. Please list what you are bringing so we can have a variety of dishes, and we don't get everyone bringing rice, ha!
Here are several sites and recipes for vegan Southeast Asian dishes; just click on the country name. Of course, feel free to use your own favorite recipe.:
Indian, Thai, Chinese, Mongolian, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Korea...
One thing you can do is substitute Gardein Chick'n or Beefless tips or strips (available at Target), Butler Soy Curls, or tofu for any chicken or beef in any recipe, and make sure not to use any sauces with sea creatures in them. Just sub more soy sauce, that's what I do oftentimes. So now you can make General Tso's chick'n, or perhaps Mongolian Beef stir fry!
Of course, vegan desserts are encouraged as well!
If you have limited cooking facilities or abilities, please, feel free to bring a beverage or maybe some fun vegan snack from any one of the many Asian markets in town. Also, help with cleaning up is encouraged!
(This potluck is all vegan, because there is a vegan couple with their 3 children coming all the way from Saskatchewan, traveling through, and this is for them.)
