Their Lives, Our Voices/Twin Cities Veg Fest

This year's Twin Cities Veg Fest will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 10am-4pm. That's right, this year we're holding the festival on a Sunday.

Twin Cities Veg Fest features a wide variety of exhibitors, speakers, and cooking classes, and is for anyone and everyone – omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike. And it’s free to attend! No matter who you are, you’ll love the third annual Twin Cities Veg Fest. Come and enjoy your fill of delicious vegan cuisine offered by our food vendors, as well as many free food samples.

The speakers for Twin Cities Veg Fest 2014 include:

• Mark Berkson, Ph.D., Professor and Chair in the Department of Religion at Hamline University

• Kristina DeMuth, registered dietician

• Erica Meier, Executive Director, Compassion Over Killing

• Taylor Radig, former undercover investigator

• Paul Shapiro, Vice President of Farm Animal Protection, Humane Society of the United States

Like previous years, we'll have lots of free food for you to try, fabulous food vendors, and compelling speakers. For this year, we're also adding cooking demos. Talented chefs will show you how to prepare all sorts of tasty, accessible, and healthy plant-based foods.

We'll also be hosting our Their Lives, Our Voices conference on the same weekend. This year's TLOV will take place on Saturday, September 27. You must register for this event, cost is minimal, and you get fed. http://2014.tlov.org/schedule/

Is anyone considering just going on Sunday? I plan on going on Friday and leaving Sunday, but Seth wants to go on Sunday for Veg Fest.

Anyone interested in going just for the day? I will chip in for gas and help with some of the driving.

I am definitely a "no" now. Just FYI.

Www have a new member named Nandini from Fergus Falls who really wants to go to Veg Fest on Sunday. Can anyone pick her up on the way?

Hi Kathleen, Nina has offered to take me tomorrow. Thanks.

I'll have to get back to you on that. It would be great if we (Seth and I) could ride down and stay with you all, as we don't quite have everything worked out yet. I'm not sure yet though, as my friend Miguel still wants to go, and I was going to drive him so he can work at the same time.

I plan on leaving on that Friday after work and getting a hotel and staying until Sunday afternoon. Anyone want to go in on gas and hotel? ( I'd prefer a hotel over staying with someone.) I have one friend who is riding with (and maybe Adam?)
I am looking at hotels and the Hyatt has a room available with two double beds and a sofa bed that can sleep 5 people (I'll bring my sleeping bag and sleep on the floor if I have to. I'm not scared!) for $129 per night (after tax is $293.86)
If we get 5 of us carpooling (with gas) it could cost about $80 per person for the trip not counting food.

I have a PT cruiser... So if anyone has a more spacious vehicle, that may be ideal!

I live in Fergus Falls and if it works out we can travel together from here and share the expenses.

If I can get the time off from work, is there anyone I could hitch a ride with? I'd like to go to both events.
I can help with driving and gas.
I may also have a place we could stay on Saturday night for free!
    :)
