Brewery Tour

Come meet your fellow freethinkers at this local brewery for fun in the shade and a nice cold one (or 2 or 3). The tour only costs $5 and includes a tasting of anything they make, of which they have several varieties. For $5 more you can purchase a Franconia beer glass. The tour lasts about 2 hours. We can head to a nearby cafe for lunch, for those interested in dining with us.

We had a great time! Thank you everyone for coming out on a very warm Saturday morning to drink, dialogue and dine with us!

So how was it? What did "tastings" translate to?
A thible size serving to wet your tongue, an 8oz serving, a 12oz serving, or filling your $5 pint or 12Oz glass?

Too much beer. I didn't use all of my allowed tickets. They are very generous with the servings.

I'll have to stop in at the place when I am up visiting relatives in town next time.

So is there a chance for a Brewery Tour opportunity #2 for those of us who missed?

    June 29, 2013

    • Emily

Yes, most definitely! The best time for a follow up may be in the Fall. Franconia is going to start bottling very soon, so part of the facility is going to be under construction for a little while. If interest is high (like it was this time) maybe we can schedule a private group tour. :)

Really great beer, very interesting and entertaining tour followed by a tasty lunch liberally mixed with great conversation with genuinely interesting and friendly people.

I really wanted to make this. But 75 has really been changed around since the last time I was up there and I couldn't find the exit for University Dr. like I could a couple of years ago. And after 11 I decided I was too late so I went home a little disappointed. Maybe next time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning!
We will try to get there around 10:30am. Be prepared to stand in line outside in the heat prior to the brewery doors opening. The facility is not air conditioned, so the tour through the cooler is quite refreshing on a hot day!
I have called ahead to Square Burger in downtown McKinney to alert them to the possibility of our visit for lunch following our tour. But they don't take reservations. I was told that there is a large table in the back that seats 12. If we have more than that joining us, they can pull tables together nearby. Of course, there are several other dining establishments around the square, if it is too busy.

Looking forward to meeting folks with similar philosophies, and beer - I really like good beer.

I was just going to suggest this brewery. Franconia is my favorite. I want to bring my family/ me + three and another family here from Ireland + 4. Am I restricted to the 2? If so I will have to make an different tour. Please advise.

You are welcome to bring as many as you like. I don't think they charge for the kiddos (since they won't be drinking). Smaller kids may get a little squirmy during the presentation, though.

Square burger in downtown Mcinney has local grassfed beef and is yummy, but you probabley already know that. They also serve Franconia! Gets busy though, may need to reserve.
