70's Fest

The New Alamo Drafthouse is hoping to spread the word of their coming to Dallas by hosting this free event in their future location, still under construction. They'll be bringing their 40' screen to 100 S. Central Expressway, Richardson, 75080 and hosting the party right in the parking lot, so bring a chair for the movie itself. The film is set to roll at approximately 8:30pm. It's the southwest corner of Beltline and 75.

As is the fashion with the Alamo, they'll be pulling all the stops on this event, with people from local breweries dishing out many local brews, and food trucks galore to help ease any hunger pains one might have. The list of venders is forthcoming, and I'll post it once it's known to me. They'll also be having a classic cars show and pinball arcade outside for this crazy event!

Film, food trucks, beer from local breweries, giveaways and a few film-themed surprises here and there too. So gather your heathen friends, your appetite for cool food truck style grub, thirst for brew, and come see Richard Linklater's coming-of-age classic, DAZED AND CONFUSED. Did I mention it's absolutely free to get in? Party at the Moontower!

P.S. If we still have any drive left in us after the movie, we might head out for more drinks to a local watering hole afterwards.

Please check the FB page for a few announcements that are more than the character limit of meetup posts here: https://www.facebook.com/events/296327493836211/

P.S. I'll have some green poster boards with FoF on them on the back of a few chairs for easy spotting of anyone less familiar with the group. See y'all there!

    WTF, free beer ehh?

I wonder what the film will be, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?
That seems like it would be a fitting piece for a place named after the Alamo.

I don't think you implied it, I assumed it as without a building it is likely to be too early for TABC to issue a permit. That does not preclude the "establishment", which has not even been established, from giving beer away, AKA throwing a party and not collecting money.

If the brewhouses are selling it, then that is a new thing to me. Not sure how they work that out, showing up and selling beer off location, but if they are doing that then they must have some sort of blessing from TABC, or if they don't maybe the TABC will be there smash up everything and to beat everyone up and arrest them a la Rainbow Lounge style. LOL In any case it will all be interesting to see, a movie at a non-film setting, beer served sans bar, outdoors in an urban setting next to a major highway, and the movie... ahh... shades of my past. It was produced in '93, but it is about hip high schoolers from the mid 70s, of this I can definitely relate.

TABC retail permit holders may be eligible to obtain a temporary permit to sell or serve alcoholic beverages at an event taking place at a location separate from their TABC-licensed premises.
