Women of Reason Dallas--Feminine Friday

Join your fellow female freethinkers to discuss whatever topic crosses our minds!

Gentlemen, we appreciate the support you give the women in your life, but we do wish to keep this space only for those who identify as women.

FAQ:

Q: "Why women only?" or "Why are you trying to exclude men?"

A: The Fellowship of Freethought Dallas is welcoming to all, but we recognize that safe spaces are needed for some groups, including those that wish to discuss issues unique to women. We appreciate that you kindly respect these boundaries.

Q: Does the Fellowship of Freethought Dallas have other events besides this one?

A: Yes!  Besides our monthly gathering on the third Sunday of the month, we lots of other social and outreach activities for all people to participate in!  Check out our calendar on the meetup page.  We look forward to seeing you at another one of our many events!

Q:  What about a "Men of Reason" group?

A: Yeah, we have had some men who wouldn't mind having a safe place to talk about how religion has previously screwed up their idea of parenthood, etc.  If there is interest and someone willing to host such a group, go for it!  If you wish to make a "joke" about the  He-man Woman Hater's Club, you might get a schooling on "heteronormativity" as well as "microaggressions" though.

Also, a thought occurred to me (me? a coherent thought - now there's a rare-i-ty ;). It might also be the case that on occasion *any* person might invited as a guest. Note the word *invited*. But, then like a executive committee meeting, the guest might have to leave so that matters of business could be discussed freely. The best example of this,, might be a reporter talking about their work. And clearly if the committee needed to discuss controversial or internal matters, a reporter wouldn't necessarily be the best person to have around. (Then use analogue-thinking, and the objection to men not being welcomed should disappear).

Just trying to be helpful (i *always* do that),
    -r.

erk, re-transmit from start. ... There's one of the tau's that goes something like this: To understand the land, look to the sea. The sea reveals the hidden beauties of the land. .or. Change your POV (point of view) and you change the world itself.

Completely off topic (or is it?), i love the phrase that you used: "... for those who identify as women".

It's nice to know that there is a place where Lana Wachowski would be welcome. Also (on a more technical note), the opposite of love isn't necessarily hate -- more likely spite.
