At the December gathering we will be collecting toys and gifts for the children at Jonathan's Place, a shelter for abused and neglected children.
From the website:
Every year, the hundreds of children call Jonathan's Place home receive not only special services and a safe place to stay, but they also receive clothes, shoes, toys, books, games and so much more. You can help make the lives of these children better by donating during this holiday season.
A full wish list is here on their website: http://www.jpkids.org/index.php?h=1.
It looks like the older kids certainly would not mind some fun new clothes, but as far as toys are concerned it looks like non-violent Wii/x-box/game cube games are high on their list, as are educational toys and craft kits. Gift cards for museums are also in high demand, and I will bet some of those kids wouldn't mind a gift certificate to visit the new Perot Science Museum.
One other request is that all donations of toys and clothes be new, as abused and neglected children do not need abused and neglected toys!
