If you can still remember how music used to make you smile, then come sing, play and smile at SOJO.
If you're a seasoned SOJO'er, you already know the program, but below are all the details which may be helpful to our new members. (NEW FOLKS: See the note below about FREE parking in nearby garages on weekends. You DON'T need to use the metered parking in the front of the building!)
If you're new to Sing Out Jam Out (SOJO), WELCOME! We're happy you found us, and we look forward to a rewarding association together! All the details you need for coming to sing and/or play with us are on this page. Always feel free to email any of the organizers if you need more information.
MOST IMPORTANT POINTS:
1. If you have a copy of Rise Up Singing, please bring it. If you don't, we'll probably have some extras available for you to borrow (one time only, please) or buy from us (at cost, about $12).
2. Feel free to bring lyrics to hand out, preferably with chords, for songs not in the book.
3. Bring something to drink, as singing is likely to make you thirsty.
4. We appreciate but do not require, any contributions ($4, or whatever) to help pay for renting the room.
5. Please do RSVP. It helps us know how to set up the room beforehand. Submit your RSVP by clicking "Count Me In" (or "Yes," or "Going," or whatever meetup.com is calling it this week) above the other attendees.
6. Free parking is available on weekends at nearby garages, the closest being on 23rd St (next to a sky-blue "CrystalCityShops" awning) between Rt. 1 and Crystal Drive.

FURTHER DETAILS, if you like:
* Our regular gatherings take place on the first and third Saturdays of the month, at our Crystal City venue (wheelchair accessible), exact location is above. We meet from 2 to 5 p.m., with a break around 3:30. Feel free to come for the whole time, or just part of it. If you can arrive a little early, to help set up and so we have a musical quorum to start, that would be great.
* For detailed directions from the Metrorail station, click on "More,” then click on "Files.” From there choose "Crystal City Metro to SOJO directions" posted by Freddy on October 1, 2010.
* Click on "Pages" for additional information such as our format and other good things to know. You can also click on "Photos" for pictures of some of our gatherings.
Whether you're new to SOJO or not so new, we look forward to singing and/or jamming with you!
Right. Johanna and I don't speak for each other. I'm the one who would rather not wade through all of "American Pie" too often (although I don't, in fact, hate the song).
I retract the remark and apologize if I offended anyone. It certainly wasn't intended to be a judgment. Anyone can like or hate any song they want and it won't hurt my feelings.
Things went really smoothly even with a large group. Thanks everyone for having fun but also being respectful and keeping the music going. Attendees who didn't RSVP are listed as my guests (Ron, Jas's friend Ellie, Wendy, Jim, Matt)
I unguested them for you and found their profiles -- I trust I got the right Ron, Jim, and Matt; there's only one Wendy (a name that was made up by J.M. Barrie). I made Ellie Jas's guest, as always. I'll be back next time to put an end to all this, this, this FUN.
Belated, vicarious welcomes to newbs Yasmin, Jean Mc, Jim T., Peter G., Eileen, AudreyLou+guest. Jas's guest was Ellie! Zana's guest was probably Clay!

Carl, I'm not sure what I might have said to make you think I object to singing "American Pie," but whatever it was, I take it back.
