Celebrate the sea at DC's only maritime music festival, October 12, 2013
Deep water adventure awaits you at the first annual Capital Maritime Music Festival (CMMF) at Washington, DC’s Naval Heritage Center on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Festival, which is jointly sponsored by the Washington Revels and the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, celebrates the people, music and folklore of inland waterways and the sea.
The day's activities include workshops and cameo performances featuring the music, folklore and history of:
• Sea warriors
• Merchant sailors
• Recreational sailors
• Maritime communities
• Canals and inland waterways
A concertina workshop kicks off the program and there will be workshops on mermaid lore, salty songs, the music of The War of 1812, and the writing of The Star-Spangled Banner.
The event will culminate in an evening concert featuring:

Vendors and exhibitors will be on hand to help lubbers fit themselves out for sea adventures.
