Reinventing Local: A General Assembly Hackathon
Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 am to Sunday, November 6th at 6:00 pm.
On November 5th and 6th, teams of designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs from the local New York community will spend a weekend designing and developing hacks, apps, websites, and mashups that allow users to interact with their communities and small businesses to interact with their customers. Completed prototypes will then be demonstrated at an on-site event finale and posted online for public consideration.
Fundraising Pitch Coaching Workshop

Crafting an effective venture pitch is one of the most important yet challenging tasks for a startup CEO. In this intensive three-hour workshop, students will learn how to build a powerful venture pitch in a collaborative, hands-on environment. The session will be led by McAdory Lipscomb, veteran pitch coach and former operating partner at RRE Ventures. By the end of the session, each attendee should have a presentation that fits with their goals and pitch style.

iPhone App Development

This course is a practical workshop in iPhone application development. It was designed to teach students the skills necessary to deliver polished, functional, usable applications for submission to the App Store. Learn from design technologist Ben Jackson, whose professional experience spans print, web and mobile apps. Ben has worked as a software engineer on the New York Times mobile team since mid-2010, and was a driving force behind the development of its iPhone and iPad apps during preparations for the launch of the NYT digital subscriptions plan earlier this year.
