Supermoon Wine Hike

The next full moon is being called Supermoon!

That means two things:

1) It's going to be awesomazing!! (Ha! Just made up another word!)

2) We are going to go on a hike to see it. And we're going to bring wine. And we're going to bring snacks. And yes, it's going to be awesomazing!! (Had to use that again...)

We're hiking the beautiful Los Liones/Paseo Miramar and watching the full moon from Parker Overlook. It's an amazing view and the moon is right over the ocean with Santa Monica right next to it. Breathtaking.

We've done that hike a few times, and actually many of us have come back over there with friends made at that original hike without posting it on Meetup. But I want to bring in some new people, so I'm making it a meetup again after almost two years.

It's a moderately hike. 3 miles, 1,200 feet elevation gain. I don't think anybody will have a problem with it. Just don't drink too much wine and get drunk before heading back. :-) We need to bring wine and snacks, so when you RSVP, make sure to write under comments what you are bringing. Take a look at what other people are bringing. I figure we need one bottle for every three people. So if we need more wine, put down that you are bringing some Chuck Shaw and we're all good. If we have too much wine coming already, put down some chips or cheese puffs or whatever. Make sure to put down what you are bringing or I'll remove your RSVP so you come back do it, gawdamnit! :-)

Also bring:

- Water (very important. It's a hike)

- A flashlight (it's a NIGHT hike)

- A jacket or sweater. It's going to be cold when the sun goes down, even if it has been a hot day.

- A PLASTIC wine glass or mug

- A PLASTIC plate and utensils

- A wine opener. You'll be glad you did.

- Some kind of trash bag, or grocery bag to carry out your trash. VERY IMPORTANT

We'll meet at 6:30 at the Los Leones trailhead and head out at 6:31.

Supposedly we're not allowed to leave our cars at the parking lot past 10 pm. I honestly will probably stay past that time. I've done it several times and never got a ticket. The trail is pretty clear and safe, so if some of you want to leave before me, you will be safe. In fact that's usually how it goes: we go up as a group, but some people leave earlier in smaller groups, with the last bigger group leaving with me.

All right. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll see you all there.

Remember to write down what you're bringing!
