Printing Museum visit http://mmop.org.au/program/public/visitor.htm

Sylvie's Walkers met the Museum Director Michael Isaachsen (?) above the railway line yesterday. I knew him through http://www.meetup.com/17Group/ but only realised Friday morning that the museum used to be at 91 Moreland st!  http://mmop.org.au/about/moving.htmI

(By clicking on member's profiles you can, [depending on sharing settings], see what other meetups they are in, who else is in that one & what else THEY are in!)

I haven't gone for an individual tour as it uses just as much of Michael's time as a group.

If there are less than 5 we don't need to book for a Thursday or Sunday, if there are more it can be anytime & cheaper depending how long we spend.

t took 3 complaints spread over more than a month but FINALLY searching at Google Maps for "Melbourne Museum of Printing" will give the right address & mark the right location! I keep wondering how much other disinformation they supply. Many people likely think Google Maps is trustworthy, I don't anymore.

I haven't heard from Tarius but anyway Tony Smith & I will be there at 4 pm. If I'm running late tomorrow I might be there a lot earlier too. If you turn up & can't see us you can SMS or ring me on[masked]

Charges ($10 waged, whatever unwaged) & conditions (enclosed shoes etc) at http://mmop.org.au/program/public/index.htm

Eventually I got a message from Tarius. She only saw about the trip afterwards but at the time she was in Florence. Which gave me a needed kick in the ass-umptions. )

OK I saw a much bigger picture when I clicked on Tarius's name or image. On a bridge or balcony?

Sorry Dave, I just got posts and realised I missed it. Hope it was great. I'll have to get organised to get over there to at least see the displays. I'm at the Duomo in Florence.

As it was during opening hours the curator was there but it was still necessary to ring him to enter the building. So you need a phone & credit OR a booking. MAYBE knocking would have worked but it's a big building on a noisy road.

Today, Daniel Matus, Tony Smith, I & the Curator Michael Isaachsen all learnt things from each other.

We had 10 RSVPs without a date & time so now I can't tell how many actually expect to turn up. Between 2 & 10 I guess.

I'm now good for this Sunday 27th. Was a week ahead of myself with something else.

Alright, if no-one's going to tell me when it suits then I'll pick a time & I won't tell them when it is - so there! Nyah, nyah nyah!!!

Hello, my (well really ts's) 'net connection has varied from slowish to non-existent since April so I haven't looked at this for a while. From my last conversation with Michael it seems to me that I still don't understand his charging model. Anyway 8 people want to go, which I think needs booking if we all go at once, but I haven't seen any comments about when suits them. Do you want me to imperiously pick a time as though handed down from a deity even if it is far from ideal for anyone? That doesn't seem the right process for this kind of (dis?un?meta?anti?)organisation.

I was off-line at home for about 10 loooooooooooooong days & meanwhile there's been more interested in going. Enough for a group booking even if Tony doesn't join us since he's planning to go briefly to a public day soon anyway but might still come. But there's only enough for a group booking if we can find a mutual satisfactory timeslot. So how about some feedback on preferences? Meanwhile I think the price is higher & more complicated than I first thought so I'd better check that with Michael.

I've been intending/promising to do Michael's tour for too long already. Particularly want to check out any gaps we might be able to fill given our role in the introduction of the first desktop publishing technologies to the Australian market (within what was intended to be a software development business delivering the interweb a decade early). So count me in. My early-mid afternoons are generally flexible given a few days notice, although I still intend, body willing, to head down the coast after Anzac weekend for maybe ten days.

Since a group over 5 can go anytime, please indicate in order of preference what times would best suit you including any suitable times within 2pm to 6pm Thurs & Sunday which are available without a group booking. Either way I'll leave it up to the tour guide (probably Michael) to conduct the tour.
