Friends of the Fire,
Our Fort Collins APRIL Fire Jam is scheduled for NEXT Friday, April 4th, 2014.
Might it be still chilly on April 4th? Probably so... but heck...THIS IS SPRING and the temperatures are just starting to warm up. It is though, time to get ready for upcoming Festivals and outside events!
Speaking of which, we are currently organizing for the Lakota Journey of Fire and Service which will be April 24(Th)-27(Su) this year in Pine Ridge, South Dakota (5+ hours from Fort Collins). For the last 6 years we have brought a fire dancing team to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. We provide volunteer labor during the day and spin fire at night. Our Fire Team Leader will once again be Mariah Rossel. If you are a fire spinner or just want to volunteer & help out or have questions, please contact her at [masked].
Indeed...now is the time of the Fire Spinners... people who still embrace the flame and dance with the fire. We crave the feel and the warmth, but much more. We dance with the fire around us...close enough to hear her siren song singing near our ears. We spin together and hear the choir of her voices, swirling... spinning... dancing with us as it has... since the mists of time.
So....come play if you can... or come watch if you will and join as you can... this our Dance of Fire.
Time to step it up and get our fire dancing shoes on!!!
And we will make a big bonfire!...:>)
We will also have glow and flow non-fire toys for those who want to play and practice... but who are not quite ready to light up with fire!
HOOPERS with or without fire and electronic spinners of all types are - as always - welcome and encouraged to attend. We usually have an enthusiastic contingent of hoopers and glow spinners and there is plenty of room for us all...:>)
As always, we are asking that NO ONE BRING ANY ALCOHOL to the event. It's just not a combination we want present as it compromises everyone's safety and we just don't want to do that.
Feel free to come on by from 7:00 on and we'll probably spin to about 11 or so. Bring fuel and a dipping can if possible...a camp chair, and BRING SNACKS and drinks to share - as there will surely be lots of hungry and thirsty folks. Some DRY firewood would be also be very helpful. I have a good bit now, but much of it is still a bit green and monthly jams take lots of wood.
And very importantly, please bring whatever musical instruments you have and let's give the spinners something with a beat they can dance to! I will get the separate drummer's fire going early on to provide some warmth near to the spinners.
***HOW TO GET TO MY HOUSE - FIRE SPINNING LOCATION - 115 S. SUNSET STREET***
I live at 115 South Sunset in Northwest Fort Collins... just 100 blessed yards into the county.
***Please READ - As Sunset Street IS just a wee bit odd. ***
My home on Sunset Street is in the northwest side of town. If coming from the south take the Hiway 114 exit off of I-25...which turns into Mulberry). Take Mulberry all the way to Taft Hill and make a right (Golf course there). Next light is LaPorte... Take a left (West). Go about a 1/4 mile and turn left onto Sunset from LaPorte heading south.
PLEASE NOTE: You are technically and temporarily still on NORTH Sunset when you turn off LaPorte Street. The split between all north/south streets in Fort Collins happens at Mountain Street... but since Mountain Street doesn't actually cross Sunset... it is more a "theoretical" line out here.
So.. in my case... head south from LaPorte onto Sunset... the house numbers go DOWN for a few...and then they start to go back up again in mid block at that theoretical Mountain Street crossing. But really.. I AM at the 8th mailbox on right at 115 South Sunset. There is a fairly large white star on our mailbox. "You can't miss it"...:>)
Turn down the dirt driveway just BEFORE that mailbox with the white star on it and go about 100 yards. You'll probably see some spinners and the campfire on the right as I live in the first house on the right down that driveway. Should be plenty of parking along driveway or out on Sunset Street.
My cell phone is [masked] in case you need to call. We plan on being safe and having spotters...and some most wonderful duvatyne towels.. a fire extinguisher and the blessings of the fire spirits...:>)
Blessed Be and Hope to See Ya!
