Monofilament Madness Cleanup - Sponsored by Keep Lee County Beautiful.
8:00 am - 12:00 noon
An annual event coordinated by Keep Lee County Beautiful during which volunteers go out in boats, kayaks, canoes, jet skis and anything else that floats, to remove monofilament fishing line and other harmful debris from the mangrove areas of Lee County. The boaters begin working at safe light (dawn) and continue until around noon at which time they are treated to a "Volunteer Appreciation Barbecue" by Sam Galloway Ford. Collection sites at the Mound House on Fort Myers Beach and Tarpon Point Marina in Cape Coral.
Let's meet at the Mound House at 8:00. Someone else from the Cape may want to lead a group at the Tarpon Point Marina site.
Bring bug spray, drinks, and sunscreen. A pair of work gloves may come in handy since one never knows what you may find to haul out.
Yes, I know it's early but think of all the wildlife you may get to see!
