Directions to Hathaway Park/ Shell Creek:

Primary route:

§  Take Burnt Store Road (SR 765) north to Punta Gorda across US41 (BSR becomes Jones Loop Road) to I75 (Exit 161).

§  Go under the I75 Bridge and turn left onto I75 northbound.

§  Take the first exit, Exit 164 (US 17/Duncan Road), eastbound towards Arcadia, FL.

§  Go about 4 miles and turn right onto Washington Loop Road (SR 764)

§  It is then about 4 ½ miles to Hathaway Park on the left.

§  Use the SECOND ENTRANCE into park and proceed to the launch ramp and free parking.

Alternate route:

§  Take I75 northbound to exit 164 (US 17/Duncan Road), eastbound towards Arcadia, FL.

§  Go about 4 miles and turn right onto Washington Loop Road (SR 764)

§  It is then about 4 ½ miles to Hathaway Park on the left.

§  Use the SECOND ENTRANCE into park and proceed to the launch ramp and free parking.

Important Participant Information:

Anyone is welcome to participate in the regularly scheduled weekly Y&G Paddling Society (YGPS) kayak trips. The YGPS does not charge fees or dues and does not employ kayak instructors or guides, and otherwise does not offer kayaking instructions to or for participants. Participants are individually responsible for their own safety and equipment. Participants should check to make certain that weather, water and tide conditions do not exceed their kayaking ability.

    We paddled about 10 miles. We went as far up the creek as we could. Lunch was great with food and fun. What a great group of people.
