Message from foursquare API:

The growing foursquare community (over 10 million!) is spread out all over the world and it's about time we had a hackathon that reflected our global nature. So, join us over the September 17-18th weekend for a round-the-clock hacking session that's happening all around the world!

In addition to our four official sites (NYC, San Francisco, Tokyo, & Paris) we welcome developers everywhere to band together and build amazing stuff on the foursquare API. There will be prizes, swag, and featured blog posts for the best hacks, no matter where in the world they come from.

So join a foursquare hackathon Meetup in your city on 9/17-18 by signing up. If you can, suggest a venue where people can meetup and hack, or leave a comment to get suggestions going. It's easy to get started and we'll provide tools, resources, and high-fives every step of the way!

Sorry Hill and Knowlton have pulled out and their space WONT be available, so still looking for a new venue

Just for clarity, we've found a new space for the London hackathon: The offices of Hill and Knowlton in Soho Square, London. You'll be in a room on the top floor with plenty of chairs/tables/internets. The space currently isn't confirmed for overnight use, but it'll definitely be available during the day/evening Saturday & Sunday

As an alternative to the AMEE space (sorry on that one folks) please feel free to come work on the River Thames on my boat (and home)! Where I live is part of Open House London over the weekend - there is also a space with coffee & cake available. We can't house 19 though - up-to 8 should be fine. Please ping me if you want to come! Guys; unfortunately, due to last-minute problems, we're going to have to pull out of offering the AMEE office for the weekend. I'm so sorry that this has come up so late, but it couldn't be avoided. Everything was on track, then it all fell apart. Can anyone suggest an alternative venue? Any ideas?

Just tried innovation warehouse, need to rent out for whole day.
Unless we can get a sponsor?

    Anyone else?
I may have another place but capacity is set at 10 people.

Can people confirm their RSVP since we're up to 17 people

I'm prepared to drop out if it's limited space. What if we found a decent bar/coffee shop with free wifi... so long as we all check in.

      Posted by Michael W. September 15, 2011
    • Dave N.'s Photo

Wouldn't we need a venue for the whole day, wherever it is?

I would hope a venue would be able to donate for free, as it's a free event etc.

But otherwise, yes, just a public place with wi-fi, power, seats and tables for us all would work.

Hey guys, just heard the bad news. I'll tweet out first thing tomorrow asking if anyone can offer space to host 15-20 awesome hackers who will definitely be respectful and say plenty of great things about the space on the various medias.

If anyone finds anything in the meantime, be sure to update the Place field on the meetup!

Do you guys want to hack through the night? Just working out who we need onsite and when! We're currently assuming 10am Sat until 5pm Sun. Does that make sense?

    Posted by James S. September 13, 2011
    • Dave N.'s Photo

For me personally, being honest, it really depends what I end up getting involved with, and what other plans come up on the day. The option to use the venue all night would be great, but not the end of the world if it's not possible.

I might only come on the Saturday as I've got a few things to sort out and the only free time is the weekend, so I will not need overnight accommodation

Akshay emailed wanting to send a 'care package' of goodies for the weekend, including some shirts. What sizes do people want?

Sounds great. Do you think (based on the number of people signed up to this so far) there will be spares, as I have lots of friends who are Foursquare users (but not developers)?

I'd love to learn how to use the API. Do you have a venue already? Otherwise I can see if I can find one, according to the requirements (which ones?)
