A couple of days ago, Miriam had posted an idea on our page requesting whether any of us would be interested in attending a session with Crowan Roberts AKA 'The Gmat Guru' who is a very well known tutor in the Bay area and focuses on tutoring students who are aiming for 700+ scores. He also runs his own website www.790gmat.com which is aptly named after his GMAT score. I also took the liberty of further researching his background and it turns out that he currently has tutored over 65 students who went on to score above a 700 and Crowan himself scored a 51 on the verbal section of the GMAT which personally I haven't heard of before (you need a 46 to hit 99th percentile)
A lot of recent attendees at our meetups had stated they had problems with Sentence Correction and Reading Comp and since Crowan specializes in the verbal section, you can use this hour to have a lot of questions addressed regarding how best to prepare for certain topics tested within SC / RC etc.
I exchanged emails with Miriam offline and she stated that, instead of of the 30 minute planned Q+A session as per the original post, Crowan can push that to an hour which is a good amount of time to cover questions on a number of topics.
The meetup is planned for next Sunday, December 19 and I can host it at the Milpitas library but I wanted to check with all of you and see how many of you are interested in attending. If there are more than 10-12 people, then a study room at the library may not be big enough and we will need to find another venue so early responses are appreciated.
I am going to create a separate meetup on this , but in the meantime, please do respond to myself or Miriam if you are interested in attending so we can have a proper headcount. Also , please let me know what topic you would like to have Crowan talk about. Instead of simply stating Sentence Correction or Quant , it would be more productive if we can have more micro list of topics from you such as Idioms/ Tense for SC or Probability/ Coordinate plane Geometry for Quant.
Please do respond as soon as you have a chance. Miriams original post can be accessed at:http://www.meetup.com/gmat-32/ideas/558057/
