Education: A barrier to employment or a Public Good?

With the recent protests by NTEU in the major universities across the country; education, employment and the right to both are very much argued by students and academics alike.

This month we will be discussing 3 major points:

  1. Do we have an inalienable right to education?
  2. Do we have an inalienable right to employment?
  3. And: Does a formal education improve employability? If so, should education be categorised a Public Good?

Last month a procession of us were sponsored to travel to Perth in order to debate, teach and spread liberty with Mannkal.

If that isn't enough to get you riled up for our April meeting; wait, there's more! Our good friends from TheNile are hosting a viewing of the documentary: The Power of the Poor, with Hernando de Soto with the Sydney Film Study Group.

This event will be held just before ours, at their offices opposite. Click here to RSVP.

Looking forward to discussing, learning and debating with all of you,

With Liberty

Interesting discussion centred on Government control of curriculum and the damage it creates.
