FreedomDance - London Bridge

Wednesdays | 19:00 – 21:00

This is your time and space to be free!

Join this class to have a taste of freedom and take that sensation into your life!

• Freedom to move your body without instructions and learned steps
• Freedom to let go of comparisons, judgments and criticisms
• Freedom to be yourself
• Freedom to connect with others

We use 5Rhythms® as a map on this journey to freedom:

Rhythm 1 - Flowing: Continuous, soft, sensual movements, with turns and curves. Our attention is directed inwards. This is where our dance gains force.

Rhythm 2 - Staccato: The rhythm of clear moves with stops and defined boundaries. This is the territory of courage, fire, and emotions. This is the time to make ourselves visible and see others.

Rhythm 3 - Chaos: In this rhythm, we are relaxing into permissiveness of the unpredictable. We voluntarily let go of control, plans and ideas and open ourselves up to the wisdom of the Big Dance

Rhythm 4 - Lyrical: Light, effortless, gliding movements that take us from one part of the room to another… Natural repetitions… Creativity, unique patterns and unedited self-expression… All of that and much more happen in lyrical!

Rhythm 5 - Stillness: The rhythm of emptiness, space and breath. Our movement slow down but don’t stop. We stay with our bodies’ direct response to what’s happening within us, with our partners and in the space around us.
See you on the dance floor!

The Tango Club is a beautiful space with wooden floor, great sound and atmospheric lighting.

The Leather Market is a Victorian warehouse complex and it is close to the Tube: 7 minutes from London Bridge or 8 minutes from Borough. The route is less comlicated from Borough.

Directions From Borough Tube Station

Cross the road to the large church opposite, walk around towards the back of the church and enter Long Lane.

Continue walking down Long Lane past Tesco Express on the right, past The Old Skool Yard pub on the left and a small parade of shops including a fish and chip shop on the right.

After this turn left into Weston Street.

Walk past the “modern” building on the right, number 108 Trowbray House, and you will arrive at The Leather Market main entrance, also on the right, it has large black iron gates.

Directions from London Bridge Tube & British Rail Stations

- From London Bridge tube

Exit the tube and follow the signs to London Bridge British Rail, this will take you to Joiner Street which is a walking street that forms part of the station complex. You will turn right towards the mainline station, do not go up to the station instead walk past this entrance and come out of the “back” of London Bridge station. Turn left onto St Thomas Street past building works for The Shard and then right onto Weston Street.

- From London Bridge British Rail

On the main station concourse follow the signs to Guy's hospital, this should take you past the entrance to the Shard and down an “outside” escalator to the “back” entrance of London Bridge station. Turn left onto St Thomas Street past the building works for The Shard and then right onto Weston Street.

Once on Weston Street

Walk down Weston Street past The Rose pub and Leather Market Gardens both on the left.

As the road bends towards the left there is a turn to the left called Leathermarket Street, walk past this and the London Leather Hide & Wool Exchange building – the rather grand corner building.

Continue past a set of black solid gates – these are open in the daytime and allow entry into The Leather Market courtyard.

At the south end of the Leather Market building you will arrive at the main entrance with large black iron gates.

How to get in

If the gates are shut please use the buzzer and say “The Tango Club”. You will see Building 8 immediately facing the entrance. Press on “The Tango Club” bell to enter.
