Humanist Judaism in Tucson

It was good meeting a few of you folks at a recent godless drinking round-(semi-squared)-table.

There is such a thing as what I might call Godless Judaism (or attempted Godless Judaism), though I have not been to a service. Recently I found out about a congregation that seems to be forming in Tucson. I guess I found out about it from this meetup posting, here in the CFI area:

The national organization (which I think the Tucson folks hope to join soon) is I think here:

I didn't go to the meetup, but did speak with them over the phone, and it looks to me that they are building some nice momentum, carrying out a few observances per year, etc.

Hi Josh,

I do updates to the CFI-SAZ website ... we do have a Secular Inquiry Group for Secular Humanist Judaism. It is not currently meeting, but if you check the Local Resources page of our website, you'll find a point of contact who can give you more information.

I actually spoke to a "jewish atheist" secular humanist. So I asked him why he even wants to be a Jew if you know it is not so; he told me...Moses came down off the mountain (flew into a rage) and ordered the levites to kill all of the others...and they did." I was surprised I had not caught this long before, but it was the first act recorded mass genocide of jews; according to Jewish lore, more were killed that day than by the Hitler and the Nazis. I read that he was afraid of the Zionists (elitist jews which formed in the mid 1800s, helped Nazis in ww1 and 2, and became the leaders and elite in Israel--their first act as a non-nation, was to attempt to execute all the jewish resistance fighters when they came to Israel [Begin's group]. they are still in charge and were the ones that moved the UN in '48 to create a Zionist (jewish) homeland, "because then, they WILL fight".)
