Bike Ride at Duke Farms

We will embark on a trek at Duke Farms. We will meet at the Orientation Center. From there we'll explore the almost 1000 acre estate on its 12+ miles of bicycle trails. There will be stops at the Hay Barn, the Old Foundation and Orchid Range. There are also many statues throughout the property. A hybrid or mountain bike is needed. Most bike trails are paved, some are packed gravel. This is a joint meetup again with the NJ/NY Day Trekkers.  Last year we had such a great time together.

Bring your camera!! This is a beautiful place. Bring plenty of water and snacks. pack a  light lunch, we will stop for a nice break during the ride at the water fall. Also bring insect repellant and sun screen. Dress comfortably  casual and maybe a lite jacket, depending on the weather.

This is an easy ride - we will take our time to enjoy the beauty of this estate. Please arrive about 15 minutes early so we can start by 11:00. Duke Farms WILL NOT BE OFFERING FREE RENTALS FOR OUR RIDE. Their rentals don't open until April 15.

The ride was fine--very nice pace. John, one of the co-leaders was very well informed about the Park. It was a special treat to see a real live eagle.

I just wanted to thank Gina and John for putting together this fun ride through Duke Farms today. It was nice to meet such a nice group of fellow riders.

Also, as I mentioned to Gina and some of the riders, I am leading a weekly, beginner "D" ride for the Bedminster Flyers Cycling Club. Our first ride of the season is tomorrow, Apr. 7, at 5:30pm leaving from Natirar in Peapack. It will be a leisurely 11.5 miles.

Anyway, you can find out more about our Club at www.bedminsterflyers.com. If you e-mail me, [masked], I can put you on the "D" ride e-mail list to keep you updated on different start locations or if the ride is cancelled due to weather. Annual membership is only $25, $30 for a family. Your first ride is free.

Gina, I just now saw that I am off the waitlist. I live nearby and will try and catch up with the group. Sorry, I was so far down on the waitlist, I didn't expect a spot to open up yesterday.

Is anyone coming from the Clinton area who has extra room for a bike? I do not have a bike rack and cannot fit my bike into my car which is a hybrid. If no I will have to give up my spot...

    • P au l

Hey Julie does the front and rear wheel come off? If so it will fit. If you have "V"-brakes just "Pinch them together and slip the cable out from the "notch" to release them(brakes). Then just lift the quick release lever and unscrew the levers to get the wheels off. Some one at dukes will help you put them back on.

Coming from Glen Rock, NJ - we have a problem too - can only fit 1 bike.
If we can't bring 2, then we'll give 1 spot away.

just a reminder - We'll meet on the left side of the Orientation Center. Please don't park your bikes on the sidewalk in front of the center entrance, park bikes on the grass or by the bike racks. Weather looks perfect - see you all tomorrow!!!!!
