La Promenade (Mission Bay)

(version française ci-après)

Let's start off the weekend with a Walk on the Beach Boardwalk, a la Francaise!

We will meet at the covered picnic area at the West end of De Anza Cove Park, near the corner of De Anza Road and N. Mission Bay Drive. We will walk south to the Hilton Hotel. If anyone would like, this would be a great place to get a coffee and relax a few minutes before returning. Once we return to the De Anza Cove Park picnic area we can find a spot to have a potluck picnic (hopefully the same covered picnic area we started from, if not already occupied - otherwise, there are lots of trees that offer shade).

The main focus is to speak French, meet new people, and enjoy the beach in the morning. We will mostly be speaking in French, so this is for average to advanced speakers. But if you are learning and want to listen in, pas de problème.

We will wait about 10 min. before leaving for the walk. So you can catch up with us if you are late.

PS - If you don't RSVP you won't be able get last minute notices as in cancellations, time/location changes, etc...)

This meetup is always free of charge and generously sponsored by Sophie Juster, a certified french teacher from Paris. Check out her site at The rates for the lessons start at $9.99/hr.

For all my Canadian friends out there. Stout public house [masked]th Ave - Between B & C street ) downtown will be open at 9:00 a.m. for the 2nd game Montreal vs Boston. The owner is from Montreal. They have many big screen TV's. If you finish the walk early, come join your fellow country men and cheer on the Canadians. The game is usually around 3 hours. I plan on being there unless something comes up. Go CANADA!

I was looking forward to the walk this week, until I just got a call from my friend that told me the 2nd game for Montreal vs Boston Bruins is tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Sorry but I have to watch it. Last night it went into double overtime and was an incredible game.
