La Promenade (Mission Bay)

(version française ci-après)

We will meet at the covered picnic area at the West end of De Anza Cove Park, near the corner of De Anza Road and N. Mission Bay Drive. We will walk south to the Hilton Hotel. If anyone would like, this would be a great place to get a coffee and relax a few minutes before returning to the covered picnic area. A picnic after the walk is not part of the schedule this week.

The main focus is to speak French, meet new people, and enjoy the beach in the morning. We will mostly be speaking in French, so this is for average to advanced speakers. But if you are learning and want to listen in, pas de problème. We will wait about 10 min. before leaving for the walk. So you can catch up with us if you are late.

PS - If you don't RSVP you won't be able get last minute notices as in cancellations, time/location changes, etc...)

This meetup is always free of charge and generously sponsored by Sophie Juster, a certified french teacher from Paris. Check out her site at The rates for the lessons start at $9.99/hr.

I arrived at 9:25 for the 9:30 meetup and didn't see anyone from the group (I've walked with this group five or six times before). Assuming that I'd made a mistake, I took off for the hotel at 9:28 (by foot) that I knew the group would visit. When I arrived, no group! I freshened up and eaded back to my car. After four minutes of walking back, I encountered the group coming towards me! So the promenade worked out okay after all. I guess they just got a late start.

I may be lost but it looks like there is an ASL picnic going on at the location.

Me, too! At 9:28 I saw the ASL group. Not recognizing anyone in the area from our usual group, I figured I made a mistake and took off très rapidement (on foot) for the hotel that I knew was a part of the promenade! Leaving the hoterl, and turning the corner, Voilà! The group was approaching!

Unfortunately, when I entered the address on my Garming GPS, it did not find it. Next time I will have to write direction for this address from google map.
