Speak FRENCH and WALK on the BEACH

Let's start off the weekend with a Walk on the Beach Boardwalk, a la Francaise!

That's right, we'll meet in Pacific Beach in front of the brown pelican statue at the Lifeguard Station (700 Grand Avenue, 92109) on the Boardwalk at 9:30am this Saturday. We'll walk to north to the Crystal Pier, and then continue on from there to stop for a coffee/drink/pastry at the French Gourmet (960 Turquoise Street, 92109). This cafe location is not on the Boardwalk so be sure to get there on time to be with the group. We may walk on the beach a short distance. If you arrive early, you may park at the Tourmaline Surf Park and walk briskly/jog 1.3 miles south on the beach to meet us at the statue.

The main focus is to speak French, meet new people, and enjoy the beach in the morning. We will mostly be speaking in French, so this is for average to advanced speakers. But if you are learning and want to listen in, pas de probleme.

Wearing your French beret, French maid outfit, and bringing a bucket of French fries is highly recommended, but absolutely optional. :D

Though, please note, dogs are not allowed at the beach/boardwalk (even if you carry it).
They even asked me to leave because they thought I was a...'St. Bernard.'

We will wait about 10 min. before leaving for the walk. So you can catch up with us if you are late.

PS - If you don't RSVP you won't be able get last minute notices as in cancellations, time/location changes, etc...)

This meetup is always free of charge and generously sponsored by Sophie Juster, a certified french teacher from Paris. Check out her site at www.fromenglishtofrench.com. The rates for the lessons start at $9.99/hr.

This was my first time going to the walk on the beach and it was a lot of fun! I knew most people from the Wednesday meeting but I was surprised at how fast they walk! We got a good workout in while speaking French and having a ton of fun. We went to the French Gourmet for lunch and then walked back to the start.
