Le Ciné-Surprise du LFM

This educational & linguistic event is about watching a SURPRISE French film and then getting together to discuss and share our appreciation/comments of the movie with each other. ANYONE who is interested is welcome.

The proposed film is: ???... surprise BUT this 2001 movie is the fifth instalment in "la Saga Pignon". No need to have seen the four first ones to truly enjoy this movie as each instalment has a completely different story and actors.

 In French with French subtitles

Durée: 1h21

Genre: Comedy

There is an administration fee of £2 on arrival to cover the costs of running this event. Please kindly have the exact change with you.

The projection will start at 8 pm

We have a maximum capacity of 75 seats so arrive early to avoid being turned away when we reach that limit.

Expensive bar but handy location. Film could do with starting a bit earlier. On the whole very enjoyable.

As this event is educational & linguistic I have discovered, and people have confirmed that back to me on dozens of occasions, that to have the French subtitles will help those who may not completely follow the conversation in French. For myself many decades ago, I have tremendously improved my English knowledge by watching movies in English with English subtitles... Almost all French movies are screened with English subtitles in the UK so by offering French subtitles this is a significant advantage to anyone who wants to improve her/his French.

If the film is in French, why would the sous-titres be also in French, not English ? For deaf viewers?

Le film est en Francais AVEC des sous-titres en Francais

Thanks Stephane for your comment and after further research, the Francois Pignon in this movie is actually the fifth installment as per the following list (of actors who played Francois Pignon):

    L'Emmerdeur (1973) : Jacques Brel
Les Compères (1983) : Pierre Richard
Les Fugitifs (1986) : Pierre Richard
Le Dîner de cons (1998) : Jacques Villeret, Daniel Hanssens, Dany Boon, Régis Laspalès (versions théâtre 1993, 2007, 2009)
Le Placard (2001) : Daniel Auteuil
La Doublure (2005) : Gad Elmaleh
    L'Emmerdeur (2008) : Patrick Timsit

I think this is the fourth one in fact... that's still a funny movie. :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
