Bob, There are multi media presentations you can go to in the city that will give you the history of Montreal. They offer it in English or in French. You have a choice as to what to listen to. There are also festivals that happpen in Montreal which you could find online. Check them out. Often times they have shows that are performed in French too. We often go to Quebec city, which you would have an easier time finding those who don't speak much English, but if you walk the city streets, you can find things happening and can run across interesting programs. When I rented a house in Quebec city, there just happened to be a theatre group that was performing for free every night we were there and there was NO English used! Good luck. You can ask me questions if you need to. My husband and I love to go to the Jazz festival there!
