Trust me .... you and doggie will be much happier... if Alfie is not showing signs of the behavior over at the inlaws ....let Alfie be and how wonderful you get to visit and watch Alfie bloom. You are doing the right thing for everyone involved!

Subject: [frenchbulldog-131] Sad Frenchie parents needing advice!!!

Hi all,

We haven't been able to come to the meet-up in a while because of Alfie's puppy training being on Sunday mornings. Right now he is staying with my in-laws until we get back from vacation, but we are debating whether or not it would be fair to take him out of that environment when he has 3 other dogs to play with all the time. For those of you that we have chatted with, you might remember that Alfie has had separation anxiety issues for a while now and no behavioral training, mental stimulation toys, kongs, or calming remedies have worked (we have tried EVERYTHING!). He's just a frenchie who LOVES to be with people and/or other dogs....and really doesn't care who it is. Because of that, we think his separation anxiety might be more loneliness that anything else. At my in-laws, he has been having a blast, and hasn't shown any sign of separation anxiety. He was even okay when we left, he sat at the door for a minute, but then went right back to playing. Unfortunately, we now feel guilty about bringing him home knowing that he will be by himself again for 3-4 hours 2-3 times a week. I know it's not a very long period of time, but we live in an apartment and he howls, whines, and barks for the majority of it. We thought about getting another Frenchie, but we can't afford it right now, and probably won't be able to for a while after getting this little guy a few months ago. I thought about daycare, but that too is a bit spendy too and would be hard for us to afford on a regular basis. The only thing I can think of that would be fair to Alfie is to have regular play-dates before I go to work, but I work in the afternoon/evening, so most people are at work when I'm home and the dog park is deserted. I'm running out of ideas and we absolutely want to bring out little one back home, but we also want to do what's best for him no matter how hard it is for us. :( Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for getting through the long novel!!!
Mary and Justin
