|About French Language Club of Central Florida (FLCCFL)||April 26, 2006 9:05 AM||anonymous|
Si vous parlez Francais ou recherchez d'autres francais/francophones, venez donc rejoindre le "French Language Club of Central FL" (FLCCFL) where all levels are welcome as far as you put an effort into conversational practice :) This is NOT a tutoring group/one-on-one program; this is only for the purpose of practicing your French whatever you think your level is...however, no need to feel intimidated. I made a point of honor in making sure everyone is following, so I don't mind switching back and forth French to English to unsure no one is left behind especially with 1st timers/levels. We attempt (Floridian weather permitted...) to meet at least once/week [usually around the middle or the end of the workweek depending on what makes more sense on which season], on a patio's of cool cafés and other grilles [that can accommodate our group] in 2 convenient areas; usually ORL (Millenia, College Park and even dwntwn) & WP, but time to time also; Kissimmee, Waterford Lakes etc, for everyone in the club to be able to go. Although we avoid sport bars-type of places, I cannot always guarantee the noise level of each place on that given day/time. I try my best to keep places' choices various yet enjoyable for the greatest number of participants regarding that matter. Hence, if it happens you have a hearing impairment for example, you might have to go with the flow a very few times as most of our French Club's members insist in variety regarding places/areas (democracy prevails :D). Besides others related events like going to a French movie worth to see at the Enzian theater or exhibitions for instance, we chat, laugh, eat, and even play [French] board games when we can. Lastly, our group is composed from a broad and awesome members' range of age from 25+ to 55+.
As a requirement of Club Membership, each new member must read & accept our primary Group Guidelines:
#1: All members must have a recognizable/appropriate profile picture, and at least their real first name. We have to be able to recognize you at the meetings. This group is private, so your privacy is protected, and new members are filtered/checked systematically in order for the club to remain as enjoyable as it is.
#2: For safety purpose, one will have to be enrolled in the group as a full member (i.e. a paying one) BEFORE participating to ANY event. As a temporary member, you will have less than 48 hours to post the small annual membership fee after deciding if the club fits your interest or not. If no payment made at that time frame, the website will automatically removed you (computarized).
#3: As required by most, I try keeping places in variety and enjoyment, however if it happens a member has a disability, it would be their sole responsibility to double check (call the place ahead, ask around, go on Yelp etc) if the place on that early evening's meeting would be acceptable/manageable for them. Only they would be able to determine this themselves.
#4: All members must pay their membership as soon as their year is up to help the organizer covering the rather expensive Meetup fees. In order to become a full member, look up on the left column of the main page and simply click on '$7.50 a year' (located right under 'Membership dues'). Otherwise, they expose themselves to be automatically removed from the group, and eventually, to have to re-apply if you would like to do so. Not only fees help the organizer to keep up with the Meetup fees of the club, but also to filter serious members from others. Fees are subject to increase as the Meetup fees for the organizer increase as well. Please, be aware that you will need a PayPal account in order to post your annual fee.
#5: Assistant-organizers do NOT have to pay for the annual fee given their time and energy spending in our club.
#6: No refund request will be considered once you become a full member.
#7: All members should be respectful of each other at anytime. Zero tolerance policy. As a friendly reminder, especially to male members [no discrimination here -simply based on stats and personal experience- therefore, the club is very protective of its female members]: allow me to be crystal clear about the purpose of the meetings; this group is NOT a cheap substitute for dating websites if part of any hidden agenda when joining it. Any inappropriate behavior will be rewarded by the immediate removal/blocking of the harassing one.
#8: Be considerate if your plans change. Hence, please update your RSVP to our events asap. It simply helps the organizer/assistants organizers to reserve the best spot for our venue. Just be mindful not only of the relationship the organizer has with most of the managers of the places we go, but also of the time consumed organizing events, checking ahead locations, deals etc.
# 9: If there is less than three (3) people signed up for an event (non-including organizer/assistant-organizer), the meeting could be cancelled at their discretion. It also depends on the weather cast since it's Florida.
Please, be active, be involved! For instance: post 'ideas' that you would like to see happening. Other members would vote for them if of any interest.
A few times/year, for a limited number, a cook out would be held at a private residence while watching a French movie.
Come to share the fun with us :D
Thank you all very much for your cooperation and support regarding those guidelines.
Je vous dis : à très bientôt !
