Board gaming on Friday nights at the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society

We’ve got a new place to game this Friday night!

A small but dedicated group of board gamers showed up last Friday and it looks like we can continue the fun.

Don’t despair about Friday Night Dice no longer meeting at The Building in Sun Valley regularly, because we’ve got gaming this Friday night at another great location: LASFS. LASFS is the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, and it’s a science fiction fan club that’s been around since 1934. Yeah, we were nerds before it was cool to be nerds!

We’re inviting all you Friday Night Dicer gamers to come on down and game this Friday from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. We have our own building, and we have enough chairs and tables to fit 40-50 people comfortably for gaming.

There is some street parking. But some streets around us have no parking after 9:00 p.m. (look for the signs), so if you’re staying later, just park in the lot on the northwest corner of our block: it’s the Metro Orange Line Van Nuys parking lot, and Metro has kindly given us permission to use it as we like.

If we get enough people coming, then we can make this a regular Friday night thing at LASFS. We are a member-run club with dues (very low dues) that support the ongoing expenses of running the place. Club rules allow anyone to come enjoy the clubhouse 3 times before joining, so come check us out and get your gaming on! If you decide you like gaming here, it’s only a one-time $10 initiation fee to join for life. Then it’s only $4 to attend any club event – like Friday night gaming! So come on down and get your gaming fix this Friday at the friendly and comfortable LASFS club.

There’s lots more cool stuff about LASFS, and you can read about it at our web site: http://www.lasfs.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9&Itemid=357

Too few people showed up. However, those who did show up had a fine time.

    Is there a kids group?

There were some youngsters who showed up with their parents at FND but none of them have yet come to gaming at this location. There are a few kids (whose parents are LASFS members) who sometimes show up on Friday nights but not every Friday night. Children are welcome as many have grown into adulthood in the club (which was started in 1934). --- Marty

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
