Movie and lunch

Let's go to Palm Valley Cinema, on Sundays admission is only $5, plus if you like concessions you can get 2 drinks (with refill) and a large popcorn for $7.75. See the link for more information about the theater -( prices subject to change) http://www.dtmovies.com/showtimes.aspx?tid=137

Million Ways to Die in the West, A (R) 1 hr. 56 mins.
 Showtime: 10:20 AM

Purchase your ticket and meet the group inside on the NORTH side near the concessions stand so we can all go in together (to your left as you walk through main entrance). This theater is not usually super busy but you never know.

Our group will enter the theater about 10 minutes before the movie is scheduled to start so please be early/on time or you may not get to sit with the group.

Lunch @ Caballeros immediately after the movie - They have a full menu as well as a large Sunday brunch buffet until approx 2pm.  They are located at 1800 N Litchfield Rd in Goodyear, just up the street from the theater.

** Your RSVP matters. I understand that people have lives and plans change. I also know it only takes a minute to update your RSVP so please have a little respect for the group and for the businesses we lunches and update your RSVP as needed. Since the number of RSVP's are limited, if you have no-show history, your 'yes' RSVP may be bumped unless you contact me. Also, it affords a person on the wait list an opportunity. **

RE: Wait List - I limit the group to 12 for two primary reasons.

1) I really enjoy the social parts of getting together with a group and having some one on one time with as many as possible. It gives us a chance to all know each other a little better....kind of the whole point to a 'social' group like meetup.  I'm not knocking a larger gathering, this is just my preference.

2) When I didn't have a limit set we got around 35 people that would RSVP to be here and I made the reservations at the restaurant in advance, only about half of the people would show up. It reflected poorly on our group when restaurants  bring in extra staff based on OUR reservations. (a good moment to say thank you to everyone that is great about updating their RSVP's as needed)

The Wait List is completely automatic and organized by Meetup (not the group & not the organizer). The person who RSVP'd first that was added to the wait list, is the first person added to attend once an opening occurs..and so on.

The wait list will generate an email to anyone on it that has been 'upgraded' to join the big boys and girls :-) at the party (aka Movie and Meal). This email being delivered completely depends on whomever updated their RSVP to no & at the time they did so. This will turn the next person on the Wait List to a yes. RSVP's can be changed up until moments before the event so, when you get your notification is based on when someone changes their RSVP. I try to send out reminders if/when we have several waiting and usually everyone is pretty good at updating their RSVP if they cannot make it giving the wait list'ers a chance to join us.

If it's a movie you really really really want to see or you just can't get your fill of our fabulous fun group and you're still stuck on the wait list.... email me. Please do not post it in the comments.

** One final note ** Since the time of the meetup is likely to change from month to month, I suggest you have the comments notification turned ON so that you can get updates. Sometimes the theater does not post the updated times and movies until the day or two prior to our meetup so I don't want you to miss any updates since the comment section is how it usually gets sent out to you (if you have them ON).

You're welcome to join us at the movie and/or lunch. We should arrive to the restaurant at approx 12:45.

      May 31

  • Gigi

Please honor your RSVP. I've changed it this month to unlimited number instead of 12. Reservations are made at the restaurant and your profile will be marked with a 'NO SHOW' if you are one.

The majority have spoken - we'll be seeing the comedy - "Million Ways to Die in the West." WOO HOOOO - I think this movie is going to be a hoot!! It begins @ 10:20, group enters the theater at approx 10:10.

*****IF you want to see something else and you don't plan to make it to lunch - please update your RSVP to NO so a wait-listed person can join the group.

    • Gigi

As always, you're welcome to see any movie you want but let me know what time you'll be joining us for lunch so I can save a spot for you with the group.

I just like to go and don't care.

It's a close race, about 1/2 & 1/2 between the 2 good movies. Your votes count, keep em coming.

    1 · May 29

    • Thomas E.

Not like we can go to either time to much difference.

      May 29

    • Gigi

True, there will be about 45 minutes difference between the movies letting out. So it will make lunch hard if we pick more than one movie to see as a group.

I am voting for Million Ways because I am seeing Maleficent later that week... I will go along with a flow...

****I'm leaning towards Maleficent or A Million ways to die *******

My best guess at this weekends movies playing: Maleficent, A Million ways to die, Chef, Blended, Railway man, X-men, Million dollar arm, Neighbors, Moms night out, Spider man, Captain America,....... The actual movies for Sunday are not yet listed on the theater site. The first 3 listed begin the Friday prior so should be playing. The others are already playing and may have been for a bit so possibly will be replaced by our meetup. As soon as the theater updates it's website, I'll let update it here, so make sure you stay in the loop (notifications checked yes) and put in your 2 cents.
