Royal Oak pub
Join us on the walk around one of the best (and highest) points in the region (Leith Hill Tower).
We will start near a pub (The Royal Oak) and end at a nearby pub (King's Arms). There are no toilets on this walk. This walk is suitable for anyone new but there are long gradual walks (uphill and downhill). We shall also see the church of Holmbury St Mary.
Meet at the Royal Oak pub RH5 6PF along the B2126. Meet at 1:30 for a prompt start. Eat beforehand.
Parking is available on the green outside the Royal Oak pub or roads near the pub (not the pub car park though), or on the gravel verges off the main road B2126 (Please do not park on the actual main road). You could also park on the residential roads near the King's Head pub 100m further down the road.
Cost £1.50 entry to the tower (worth it for the spectacular scenery such as the middle photo. Do have CASH ready for this). Dogs welcome on walk (but probably not allowed in the tower).
For those unfamiliar with the area go along the A25 then opposite the Abinger Hammer (near Gomshall station) take the B2126 (Felday Road). It looks very insignificant and bits of it are narrow so do leave in plenty of time.
