6 Mile Walk

Join me for a lumpy Bank Holiday walk of around 6 miles, taking in Chinthurst Hill with its modern folly and St Martha's Hill with its ancient church. Both of these hills offer fine views over the surrounding countryside. While there is over 1000 feet of climbing, there are no steep climbs (although there is 1 fairly steep descent)

The circular route uses parts of the Pilgrim's Way, the Wey-South Path and the Downs Link, and takes in the ruins of St Catherine's chapel, passes Chilworth and Great Tangley Manor houses, and crosses not 1 but 2 Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The plan is for a picnic lunch atop St Martha's, weather permitting. There is nowhere to buy refreshments en route, and no planned pub stop

Note, the postcode for the start point is approximate- use Grid Ref: TQ014462. Meet in the free car park from 10:15am to begin walking at 10:30 prompt

Nearest train station is Shalford, about a mile away from the start point

No guests please, except if signed up through the group, and, sorry, no dogs
