The controversial and evangelical church UCKG have been trying to open in Walthamstow (E17) for 10 years against MASSIVE local objection. The local authority have done everything they can to block it and in November, it gets handed over to the government (for a public enquiry lead by Eric Pickles, Communities Secretary) to make a decision about whether the church can open or not.
This is where I am begging for your help. The only thing we have to do is make sure the government listens to Londoners and rejects the church. BUT, the church forces its UK congregations to send letters supporting the plans so they sent 2,500 letters, vs 1,000 letters sent opposing the plans. So, the government is going to see 2,500 supporters and only 1,000 opposition letters.
Please help by sending a letter. All you have to do is go here: http://mcguffinfilmsociety.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/template-objection-letter-october-2012.pdf, print the letter, add your name and address and post it. The letters have to be there by Thursday 1st November, so please do it now.
Your letter really will count, plus you will know that you had a role in stopping thousands of people becoming followers of God in London.
The really cool, bit is that if the building doesn’t open as a UCKG Church then it’s going to re-open as a massive live venue and cinema (which it was before the Church bought it and closed it down). If you want more info about all of this then go to http://savewalthamstowcinema.org/, http://www.walthamforestcinematrust.org.uk/
Thank you so much for listening, and for being a proactive part of keeping god out of London. I’d love you to RSVP if you have sent a letter so I can see how many of you have.
Have a great day!
